2、ake mistakes like this (and a lot of people do)!Fortunately for them ,the Bank of England has a team called Mutilated Ladies which deals with claims from people who fed their money to a machine or to their dog.Dogs,it seems ,love to chew up money! A recent case concerns Jane Butlin whose fiancé

3、,Jane ,runs a successful furniture business.John had a very good day and put his wallet containing £3,000 into the microwave oven for safekeeping.Then he and Jane went horse-riding.When they got home ,Jane cooked their dinner in the microwave oven and without realizing it,cooked her fiancé

4、s wallet as wallet as well.Imagine their dismay when they found a beautifully-cooked wallet and notes turned to ash!John went to see his bank manager who sent the remains of wallet and the money to the special department of the Bank of England in New castle:the Mutilated Ladies!They examined the rem

5、ains and John got all his money back.So long as theres something to identify ,we will give people their money back ,said a spokeswoman for the Bank.Last year ,we paid £1.5m on 21,000 claims.Damaged bank notes.The Queens head appears on English bank notes ,and “l(fā)ady” refers to this.Now learn the

12、r happened to you ?副詞ever常用來表示某種強調,含有“在任何時候”之意,其反義詞是never.注意:(1).ever 主要用于疑問句,否定句,條件狀語從句,和含有否定意義的詞,(如hardly,stop)的句中。Eg: Do you ever go to the opera? No ,never Yes ,sometimes.Eg: My mother hardly ever goes out. 我的母親幾年不出門 Im going to stop him ever doing that again雖然否定句可由not ever構成(如I havent ever been

13、 there)但通常用never來表示(如I have never been there )(2) .ever 用在現(xiàn)在完成時,和過去完成時,可表示“直到現(xiàn)在的任何時候”和“直到過去某一時間點的任何時間”之意 Eg:Have you ever been to Paris?(3) .ever可用于et比較級結構中的than之后,進行時間上的強調。Eg:You look more beautiful than ever.你比任何時候都漂亮。(4) .ever 有時也用于疑問句或假定句中,表示憤怒或驚訝Eg:Has anyone of you ever heard such nonsense? 你們

14、有誰聽到過這種廢話嗎?happened =occurred 發(fā)生 happen to 發(fā)生在某人身上。put 放、安置 put···on put···input on 穿上、戴上put up with 容忍、忍受2.Have you ever put your trousers in the washing machine and then remembered there was a large bank note in your back pocket? a large bank note 面額很大的紙幣 remembered=r

15、ecalled remember 記得、回想起=recall remember后既可以跟不定式又可以跟動詞+ing形式、但意義不同 eg:I remembered to post the letters. 我記住了要發(fā)信。 eg:I remembered posting the letters. 我記得把信寄出去了。前一句表示沒做 post這個動詞,而后一句則表示記得曾做過post這個動詞。 (3)代···問候 eg:Please remember me to your parents. 請代我向你父母問好。 3.When you rescued your tro

16、users,did you find the note was white ?此處rescued 用的是夸張的修辭方法,而不是took.out/got.out,Whiter than white 是英國有關洗衣粉的電視廣告用語。4.People who live in Britain neednt despair when they make mistakes like this (and a lot of people do)!need可作為完全變化動詞,既實義動詞,有時態(tài)和人稱變化,也可作為特殊限定動詞(無人稱和時態(tài)的變化)即情態(tài)動詞來使用。(1) .作為完全動詞使用,有時態(tài),人稱變化,與

17、一般動詞一樣 。Eg: Do you need any help?(2) .作為特殊限定動詞,即情態(tài)動詞使用時,后需使用不帶to上午動詞不定式,主要用于疑問句,否定句,和引導的從句中。Eg: Need I type this letter? I wonder if I need type this letter(3) .neednt 為must 的否定式,意為不必。 Eg:Must I type this letter?No,you neednt(4) .neednt 后如果接動詞不定式的完成時態(tài)形式,表示沒必要做,但已經做過的事情。Eg:Mary typed the letter yeste

Which 和who 又分別引導一個定語從句 deal with 負責處理 claim 要求 n. fortuna

22、we were going to swim across the river. 她在那里遇見我們時,我們正打算游過河去。10.When they got home ,Jane cooked their dinner in the microwave oven and without realizing it,cooked her fiances wallet as wallet as well. without realizing it,介詞短語在句中作原因狀語; with doing sth.結構可以表示多種狀語含義(如方式狀語,結果狀語,原因狀語)Eg: She left with say
