1、Unit 11 Hurricane !一、教學(xué)目標(biāo)與要求了解颶風(fēng)造成的巨大危害,學(xué)習(xí)過去分詞作賓語補(bǔ)足語的用法,是本單元的教學(xué)重點(diǎn)。 通過對話課的學(xué)習(xí)與操練,學(xué)生復(fù)習(xí)表示焦慮的日常用語和應(yīng)答,并且能準(zhǔn)確、熟練地運(yùn)用 到模擬交際的會(huì)話中;在理解兩篇閱讀課文的基礎(chǔ)上,學(xué)生能用自己組織的語言,介紹颶風(fēng) 在英國所造成的破壞,并能對災(zāi)情有較為詳盡的描述;掌握過去分詞作賓語補(bǔ)足語的用法; 正確完成練習(xí)冊安排的練習(xí)。二、教學(xué)重點(diǎn)與難點(diǎn)1 .重點(diǎn)詞匯 anxious; expect; likely ; strike; awake; warn ; warning ; block ; altogeth-er; b

40、just heard a warning on the radio that a hurricane is likely to come . 我們剛從廣播 里聽到一則氣象警報(bào),說颶風(fēng)可能要來。從句 that a hurrincane is likely to come 是 warning 的同位語,來進(jìn)一步解釋這個(gè) warn ing 的具體內(nèi)容。同位語從句通常緊跟在它所說明的名詞之后,但有時(shí)也可以被別的詞語隔開, 如本句的 warning和從句之間被 on the radio隔開。能夠接同位語從句的名詞主要有idea, fact, news, hope, belief, thought, do
41、ubt等。例如:I have no idea that you were here . 我不知道你在這兒。We expressed the hope that they would come and visit China again .我們表示希望他們再來 中國訪問。有時(shí)學(xué)生易將同位語從句與定語從句相混淆。同位語從句是對前面的名詞作進(jìn)一步解釋,說明它指的是誰、是什么等。that在從句中不作任何成份; 而定語從句則是修飾前面的先行詞, 關(guān)系代詞that在從句中要充當(dāng)句子成份(如主語、賓語)。例如:The suggestion that we discuss the problem all ov
42、er again is a good one .要我們把這個(gè)問題再 討論一遍的建議是個(gè)好建議。(同位語從句)The suggestion that he put forward at the meeting was a good one . 他在會(huì)議上提出的建議是 個(gè)好建議。(定語從句,關(guān)系代詞that在從句中作賓語)2. If the hurricane had happened during the day-time , there would have been many more deaths.倘若颶風(fēng)發(fā)生在白天,那么死亡人數(shù)會(huì)多得多。本句使用了虛擬條件句,表示與過去事實(shí)相反。這時(shí),在
43、if引導(dǎo)的虛擬條件句中,謂語動(dòng)詞用“ had過去分詞”,而主句用 “would/could/might+過去分詞"構(gòu)成。例如:She would have come if we had invited her .要是我們邀請了她,她是會(huì)來的。(事實(shí)上我們沒邀請她。)If I had left a little earlier , I would have caught the train .我要是早點(diǎn)動(dòng)身就趕上火車了。(事實(shí)上我動(dòng)身晚了,沒趕上火車。)death表示 死亡"時(shí),是不可數(shù)名詞。例如:If was a matter of life and death to th
44、em .對他們來說,這是個(gè)生死存亡的問題。death還可作可數(shù)名詞,表示某種類型的死或多少人的死。例如:Car accidents have caused many deaths 交通事故導(dǎo)致多人死亡。There have been very few deaths this year .今年的死亡人數(shù)不多。3. In the morning people woke up and found the world outside their houses completelycha nged .早上人們一醒來就發(fā)現(xiàn)房屋外邊的世界完全變了樣。在句中,found the worldcompletely
45、 changed是個(gè)復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu),即:find+賓語+賓語補(bǔ)足語。再如:When he arrived at the bank , he found the door closed .當(dāng)他到達(dá)銀行時(shí),發(fā)現(xiàn)門已經(jīng)關(guān)了。能和動(dòng)詞find構(gòu)成復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)的除過去分詞外,還有形容詞、現(xiàn)在分詞、名詞、介詞短語及to be等。例如:I find the magazine very interesting .我發(fā)現(xiàn)這雜志很有趣。(形容詞)The doctor found some patients waiting for him .醫(yī)生發(fā)現(xiàn)幾個(gè)病人在等他。(現(xiàn)在分詞)You will find it a diffi
46、cult book.你將發(fā)現(xiàn)這本書很難。(名詞)I hope to find you in better spirits when we meet again .希望我們下次見面時(shí)你的精神好一 些。(介詞短語)We found him to be dishonest .我們發(fā)現(xiàn)他不誠實(shí)。(to be)We went to her house and found her out .我們?nèi)チ怂?,發(fā)現(xiàn)她外出了。(副詞)4. Electricity lines as well as teleph one poles were brought dow n by falli ng trees or br
47、anches.樹和樹枝在倒落時(shí),把電線連同電話線桿一起都刮倒了。as well as意為:同;和。當(dāng)它連接主語和后面的名詞時(shí),其謂語動(dòng)詞要與前面 的主語保持一致。在本句中,主語是 electricity lines,故謂語用復(fù)數(shù)形式were。但請看以下例子:The teacher as well as the students likes this painting .老師和同學(xué)們都喜歡這幅畫。Einstein as well as some other scientists was forced to leave Germany .愛因斯坦和其他一些 科學(xué)家被迫離開德國。除as well a
48、s之外,當(dāng)主語是單數(shù)時(shí),后面盡管接有together with , along with , besides,except, including , in addition to等起連接作用的詞語帶另一主語,謂語動(dòng)詞仍用單數(shù)形式。例如:Every one else, besides his father and mother, was excited with joy at his victory .其他每一 個(gè)人,和他的父母一樣,都因他勝利而狂歡。bring down意為:使倒下;弄倒。例如:Hun dreds of old trees were brought down by the high win ds .數(shù)以百計(jì)的大樹被大風(fēng)吹倒了。5.
