A.Backgroundandmotivation
Theuseofjointfires,whichinvolvesthecoordinateduseofdifferenttypesofweaponsandplatforms,isacriticalaspectofmodernwarfare.Jointfirescanprovideasignificantadvantageinbattlebyallowingmilitaryforcestoachievetheirobjectivesmoreeffectivelyandefficiently.However,theuseofjointfiresincomplexelectromagneticenvironments(CEME)presentssignificanttechnical,operational,andstrategicchallenges.Advancesintechnologyhaveledtoanincreaseinthenumberandintensityofelectromagneticfrequencies(EMF)usedinmodernwarfare.Electronicwarfare,communicationsystems,navigation,anddetectionsystemscanallinterferewiththeoperationofmilitaryplatforms,sensors,andcommunicationsystems.Asaresult,thecomplexityandunpredictabilityofCEMEcansignificantlyimpacttheeffectivenessandefficiencyofjointfiresoperations.
Therefore,thepurposeofthispaperistoexaminetheimpactofcomplexelectromagneticenvironmentsontacticaljointfiresoperations,andtoidentifyapproachestomitigatetheseeffects.
