Trafficlightsarered,yellowandgreen.Theyareveryimportantsignals({a

However,thereweremanydangerousaccidentsonthetraintracks.Sometrain

driversthoughtastarshininginthenightskywasawhitelightthatmeant“go”.

Sothesignalswereswapped.The“go”lightwaschangedtogreenandthe“take

care“l(fā)ightwaschangedtowhite.

Duringthesetimes,peopletravelledbytrainorincartspulledbyhorses.Years

later,whencarswerebuilt,peoplebegantodrivethembecausetheycouldtravel

muchfasterthanhorses.However,theroadrulesfordriverswerenotveryclear

andmanypeoplewerehurtcrossingtheroads.Yellowwarningsignshadtobeplaced

besidetheroadstoreminddriverstotakecareandallowpeopletocrosssafely.

Today,townsandcitiesallovertheworldhavetrafficlights.Redandgreen
