1.0.1Thiscodeisformulatedwithaviewtopreventingfireaccidentsinbuildings，reducingfire

hazardsandprotectingsafetyoflifeandproperty.

1.0.2Thiscodeisapplicabletothefollowingnewlyconstructed，enlargedandalteredbuildings：

1Factorybuildings；

2Storages；

3Civilbuildings；

4ClassA，B，Cliquidtanks（tankfarms）；

5Combustibleandcombustion-supportinggastanks（tankfarms）；

6Stackyardsforcombustibles；

7Urbanroadtunnels.

Ifdedicatednationalstandardsareavailable，thefireprotectiondesignofbuildingsforcivilair

defenseengineering，petroleumandnaturalgasengineering，petrochemicalengineering，fossilfuel

powerplantsandsubstationsshouldcomplywiththerequirementsofthosestandards.

1.0.3Thiscodeisnotapplicabletothefireprotectiondesignofbuildingssuchasfactorybuildings

（storages）forgunpowder，explosivesandtheirproductsaswellasfireworksandfirecrackers.

1.0.4Whereabuildingismulti-used，fireseparationsshallbeprovidedbetweendifferentuses.Fire

protectiondesignofbuildingsandtheareasofdifferentusesshallbedeterminedaccordingtothe

relevantrequirementsofthiscode.

1.0.5Fireprotectiondesignofbuildingsshallcomplywiththerelevantnationalmajorpolicies，and

guarantee，onthewhole，theoverallplanning，safetyandapplicability，advancedtechnologyaswellas

economicalrationalityaccordingtotheoccupanciesandfirehazardsofthebuilding.

1.0.6Inadditiontocomplywiththerequirementsofthiscode，buildingswithheightgreaterthan250m

shallbeprotectedwithstricterfireprotectionmeasuresaccordingtotheactualsituation.Fireprotection

designsolutionsofsuchbuildingsshallbediscussedandreviewedbythenationalfireauthorities.

1.0.7Inadditiontotherequirementsofthiscode，fireprotectiondesignofbuildingsshallalsocomply

withthosespecifiedintherelevantcurrentnationalstandards.

2.1Terms

2.1.1high-risebuilding

Residentialbuildingswithbuildingheightgreaterthan27mandnon-single-storeyfactory

buildings，storagesandothercivilbuildingswithbuildingheightgreaterthan24m.

Note：ThecalculationofbuildingheightshallcomplywiththosespecifiedinAppendixAofthiscode.

2.1.2podium

Theancillarypartofahigh-risebuilding，whoseheightisnotgreaterthan24m，andisconnectedto

themainbodyofthehigh-risebuildingbutisbeyondtheprojectionrangeofthemainbody.

2.1.3importantpublicbuilding

Thecivilbuildingotherthanresidentialbuildingthatmaycauseheavycasualtiesandproperty

losses，severesocialimpactincaseoffire.

2.1.4smallcommercialspaces

Commercialspacessuchasshops，postoffices，banks，barbershopslocatedonthefirstfloororthe

firstandsecondfloorsoftheresidentialbuildings，withthebuildingareaofeachseparatedunitnot

greaterthan300m.

2.1.5highrackstorage

Rackstoragewithrackheightgreaterthan7mandwithmechanicaloperationorautomaticcontrol.

2.1.6semi-basement

Aspacehavingitsaverageclearheightgreaterthan1/3butlessthan1/2belowfinishedgroundlevel.

2.1.7basement

Aspacehavingmorethanhalfitsaverageclearheightbelowfinishedgroundlevel.

2.1.8openflamelocation

Anindoororoutdoorlocationwithopenflameorred-hotsubjects，excludingcookingutensils，

inductioncookerandthelikeinacivilbuilding.

2.1.9sparkingsite

Alocationlikechimneywithflyingfire，orforsuchoperationsasoutdoorgrindingwheel，electric

welding，gasweldingandgascutting.

2.1.10fire-resistancerating

Aperiodoftimethatstartsfromabuildingelement，componentorassemblythatareexposedto

fireunderstandardfireconditions，tothetimethattheylosebearingcapacity，integrityorinsulation，

expressedinhours.

2.1.11firepartitionwall

Noncombustiblewallinabuildingwhichpreventsfirefromspreadingtoadjoiningareaswithfire-

resistanceratingnotlessthanthespecifiedrequirementsofthecode.
