V.TeachingProcedures:

Step1:Warmup(5minutes)

Beginbyaskingstudentsiftheyknowwhattodoinamedicalemergency.Elicitgeneralknowledgeoffirstaid.

Introducekeyvocabularythroughquickflashcarddrillsandbriefdiscussions.

Step2:Prereading(5minutes)

Showimagesrelatedtomedicalemergenciesandaskstudentswhattheythinkshouldbedoneineachsituation.

Reviewthetargetlanguagestructures,focusingonthepresentperfecttenseandmodalverbs.

Step3:Whilelistening(15minutes)

Playanaudiorecordingfeaturingaconversationwheresomeoneishurtandneedsmedicalattention.

Askstudentstolistenandidentifythesymptomsandthesuggestedcourseofaction.

Afterlistening,holdaclassdiscussiontoclarifyanymisunderstandingsandencouragestudentstosharetheirthoughtsonproperprocedures.

Step4:Postlistening(15minutes)

Inpairs,studentspracticecreatingdialogueswheretheyroleplayamedicalemergencyscenario,usingthetargetlanguagestructurestogiveadviceandhelp.

Walkaroundtheclassroomtoprovideassistanceandensuretheaccurateuseoflanguage.

Step5:SpeakingPractice(10minutes)

Usingroleplayprops,simulateamedicalemergencywhereonestudentmustseekhelpfromanother.Encourageuseoffirstaidvocabularyandmodalverbsforadvice.

Somegroupscanperformtheirroleplayfortheclass.

Step6:WritingTask(10minutes)

Assignawritingtaskwherestudentscreateashortparagraphdescribingarecentminorinjurytheyorsomeonetheyknowhasexperienced,includingthestepstakenforfirstaidandtheoute.

Encouragestudentstousethepresentperfecttenseandmodalverbsintheirdescriptions.

Step7:Homework&Review(5minutes)

Reviewkeyvocabularyandlanguagestructuresbyplayingagamesuchas"FirstAidTrivia,"wherestudentsanswerquestionsbasedonthelesson'scontent.

Assignhomework:Studentsresearchmonhouseholdinjuriesandhowtotreatthem,preparingashortpresentationtosharewiththeclass.
