(6分)閱讀理解Life is full of miracles. They surround us every day. One of these miracles happened to me recently. I was filling my cars tank at a local gas station. It was only 10 A.M. but I already felt tired. It was a cloudy, gloomy and rainy day and I hadnt slept well the night before. After I paid for the gas I turned my car towards the main road. I looked right and left then my brain sent the signal for my foot to push on the gas pedal but nothing happened. Shocked, I shook my head to clear it and gazed down at my foot.Just as I did, though, a truckrushedpast my car doing 60 mph. My weary eyes hadnt seen it when I had looked just 2 seconds earlier. If I had been pulling out when I should have been, my little green car would have been smashed and I would have most likely been killed. I sat there for a long time quietly thanking God for sparing my life before pulling out on the road and heading home. This time both my brain and foot worked perfectly. As I looked back on that moment later I still couldnt understand it. Did God prevent my brains signalfrom reaching my foot? Did an angel hold my toes to keep them from pressing on the gas? One question kept coming back into my mind as well: why? Why did I get this miracle? Why did God spare my life this day? Finally, I felt the answer forming deep within my heart and mind. I heard the words coming from my soul saying: “You still have more to do. Your work is not done yet!”Richard Bach wrote: “Here is the test to find if your mission on Earth is finished: if you are alive it isnt.” Wake up each day then knowing that your mission isnt done yet. (8分)閱讀理解 If you want to help children develop language and speech skills, UCLA researchers say, listening to what they have to say is just as important as talking to them. The effect(影響) of a conversation between a child and an adult is about six times as great as the effect of adult speech input alone, the researchers found. Adults speaking to children helps language develop, but what matters much more is the interaction (交流), said the studys lead author, Frederick Zimmerman, an associate professor in the School of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles. The researchers also found that TV viewing didnt have much of an effect-positively or negatively-as long as it wasnt displacing conversations between an adult and a child. The UCLA study included 275 families with children between 2 months and 48 months old. They represented a variety of incomes(收入) and education. The researchers found that, in an average day, children hear about 13,000 spoken words from adults and took part in about 400 adult-child conversations a day.Factors(因素) positively associated with language development included each additional額外的) 100 conversations a day and each 1,000 word increase in the number of words spoken by adults and heard by children. When looked at alone, TV was negatively associated with language development. But, when the three factors were put together, the only one that stood out was conversation between adults and children. The more a child speaks and interacts with an adult, the better idea a parent has about where the child is, Zimmerman said. Although its mostly done unconsciously(無意識(shí)地), parents will provide more information and correct mistakes. Theyll also tailor their speech to the child. Parents can give a child words by talking to them about what theyre doing, such as, I m putting on your pajamas now. But youre your child the opportunity to talk, hopefully without the rest of the noise in the environment, she added. If parents can spare some conversation time-maybe at bath time or at dinner time-thats a wonderful thing.(1)The researchers also found that TV viewing _. A . could have a positive effete on a childs language developmentB . had a little effect on a childs language developmentC . affected a childs language development more negatively than positivelyD . affected a childs language development both negatively and positively(2)Frederick Zimmerman would probably agree that _. A . parents should let their children talk most of the time.B . children should watch TV programs alone all the time.C . the conversation between parents and children should be two-wayD . its no good for parents to correct their childrens mistakes when they are speaking(3)We can get from the last paragraph that _. A . parents should let a child repeat what he or she saysB . bath time or dinner time is the best chance for parents to talk to a childC . parent-child conversation can be carried out at any proper timeD . parents should leave a child talking alone(4)What does the underlined sentence mean in the last paragraph? It means _. A . Parents will make clothes for children as tailors.B . Parents will choose the topics that children are interested in.C . Parents will help kids to correct their mistakes.D . Parents will keep quiet when they have nothing to talk.(5)What would be the best title for the passage? A . Talk with kids, not to themB . Let your children voice their own opinionsC . (8分)根據(jù)短文理解,判斷正誤。Be an OriginalIts said that we human beings are the only creatures who refuse to be what we are. One writer said, “When people are free to do what they want, they usually copy each other.” Yet nobody can be you as well as you can. Every successful person becomes successful because he or she discovered and developed his or her own special abilities. As a guy said, “One of the hardest things about climbing the ladder of success is getting through the crowd of copies at the bottom.”So remember you are a specialist. Youre not made to be all things to all people. Surveys have shown that usually about 20 percent of all the people who know you dont really like you that much. You just cant please all the people all the time! So dont try to have peace at all costs, especially at the cost of your own success. “Dont stay where youre tolerated (忍受), go where youre celebrated!” Be yourself. Be an original (有獨(dú)創(chuàng)性的人)! You really are one-of-a-kind. Youre the first and last person who will ever be exactly like you.Do you know that over 90 percent of all flowers have no smell at all? Its the ones with a sweet fragrance (香味) and smell that we remember. So dont be afraid to be different, if it means being yourself. We are like rivers, “If we follow the easy path of least resistance, it will make us crooked (彎曲).” So dont follow where the path may lead, go where there is no path and leave your own trail. “Youre born an original, dont die a copy!” Too many people are like the living dead, theyve buried their real talents and abilities.(1)There are a lot of people who are exactly like you according to the writer of the passage.(2)The underlined phrase “one-of-a-kind” means “和大家一樣的” in Chinese.三、 任務(wù)型閱讀(本題有5小題,每小題1分;共計(jì)5分) (共1題;共5分)6.
