Did you have a good time during the summer holiday? Where did you go? What did you do?2. Ask some students about their summer holidayStep 2. Pre-task SB Page 2, 1a .T: We know it is not easy to learn English well. Different students have different ways to learn it. How do you study for an English test?S: I study for an English test reading the textbook.T: Oh, you study for an English test by reading the textbook.1. Ask several students to tell you how they study for a test .Make a list of their answers on the blackboard .2. Read the lists of ways of studying to the class. Point to actual objects in the classroom( a flashcard, a cassette, a textbook) or to items in the illustration to show the meaning of each item on the list. Explain something about the structures “verb + by with gerund ”.3. Ask students to check the ways they usually study for an English test. While they are doing this, write the list on the board. Then read the list to the class and ask students to raise their hands to show which things they checked. Write the number of hands you see after each item on the board.4.Then ask students to write down other ways they study for an English test. When they have finished, ask students to read their lists to the class.
