Dear Judges and Friends, The topic for my speech today is “Festival.” I would like to talk about my favorite festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival. In China we have several important festivals, s

6、uch as the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival, the Dragon-boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Among them, I like Mid-Autumn festival best, especially because I live in Xiamen. In Xiamen, when we _lebrate the Mid-Autumn festival, we do not only follow the mon practi _s such as having a big

7、dinner _ with our family, eating mooncakes, and appreciating the full moon at night, we also have one unique custom which is only practi _d in Xiamen, that is “Bo Bing”. “Bo Bing” is a very interesting game that almost all Xiamen people play during this festival. Usually family members or close frie

8、nds get together around a table with a big round bowl in the middle and six di _s in the bowl. We take turns to throw the di _s into the bowl. We will get different prizes aroding to the different ways the di _s show their upper sides. Everyone is likely to bee the champion or “Zhuangyuan” for the y

9、ear. There is an element of luck and equal opportunity in this game. So people usually get excited while playing. Also, the game gives very pleasant sounds. The tinkling _de by the di _s falling into the bowl is pleasant, peoples laughing, cheering and applauding for the big prizes theyve won is ple

10、asant. All this adds greatly to the joyful atmosphere of this festival. As a kid, of course I also like the _terial prizes I get from the game, such as a candy or a cake. In this years Mid-Autumn Festival, my family invited our foreign friends to e to our home to _lebrate the Festival together. They

11、 have two children who are younger than me. While our parents were _ Jiaozi together, we kids played “Bo Bing”. We bought quite some gifts to share with our guests as their prizes.They enjoyed the game and our get-together very much. The literal translation of “Bo Bing” is “mooncake gambling.” But a

12、ctually it is not gambling, at least our family never plays it that way. For us, it is more an oasion of happy sharing and getting-together. This is why Xiamens Mid-Autumn Festival has bee my favorite festival in the year. Thank you very much! Chinese New Year is the most important festivity for the

13、 Chinese people. It is also called the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year. Every year has an ani _ls name. These ani _ls are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. A Chinese legend says that these twelve ani _ls had a ra _. The first year was named af

14、ter the rat, the winner. The other eleven years were named after the order in which the ani _ls arrived in the ra _. The clever rat jumped onto the oxs back then at the end jumped over the oxs head to arrive first! The Chinese believe that a person born in a particular year has some of the character

15、istics of ani _l. On Chinese New Years Eve all family members enjoy a big, delicious meal. It is very important for the Chinese to be with their families on this oasion. Fish is always part of the dinner because it represents abundan _. On New Years Day all Chinese children wear new clothes with bri

16、ght colors. Red is considered a lucky color. Parents and relatives give children the traditional New Years gift called lucky money. This money is put into bright red and gold envelopes. Fill under the pillow. in the morning of new year , the kid wakes up to see the “l(fā)ucky money”, express that onesel

17、f bee one year older. Red is a traditional color for festivals, _lebrations, weddings and birthdays. The lion dan _rs are always part of the festivities. The lion has a big head and long body _de of cloth. The lion dan _ is aompanied by drums, cymbals and noisy firecrackers. Aording to ancient traditions the great noise frightens away evil spirits. The dragon is the most important figure of the Chinese New Year festivities and parades. The dragon is considered a lucky figure. A p
