26、glish family names are inherited from the father, and a woman's family name changes to the family name of her husband when she marries. Chinese women do not necessarily take their husband's family name when they marry. Many English names have an old meaning, but the meaning is not usually a

In Chinese culture, naming a child often takes five principles into consideration: the name should reflect wealth or well-being. It must sound pleasant when spoken, reflect favorable mathematical calculations, be harmonio

49、時(shí)候,就會開始考慮取一個(gè)英(外)文名字。在英文字匯量還不是很大的時(shí)候,可能有一大堆的人是叫做John, Mary, Bob, Paul, Joe, Jane等等一音節(jié)、三四個(gè)字母的名字。隨著教育程度的提高,很多人在成長的過程中,也經(jīng)常更換自己的英文名字。不過到出國之前,你應(yīng)該決定一個(gè)終身使用的名字。如果你希望有個(gè)正式的洋名,必需在申請護(hù)照的時(shí)候同時(shí)加注,也就是在護(hù)照上 As known as 的地方會有你的英文名字,但是一旦你申請了護(hù)照,這個(gè)英文名字就不太能夠更動了!英文名字的好處我們的中文名字通常是家里取的,自己沒有干涉的權(quán)力,只有洋名是我們可以自己決定的。在很多比較洋化的職場,通常大家也都

50、習(xí)慣用洋名稱呼彼此。更重要的是,出國留學(xué)后,老外可以很正確的叫出你的名字,減少大家的尷尬。如何取英文名字隨著西方文明的演進(jìn),老外的名字變化也很多。 以Parent Soup的Name finder為例,首先可以選擇男生或女生的姓名。中國人有些人取英文名字的時(shí)候也沒有分清楚,老外給男人用的名字我們女生也拿來用,還振振有辭的說這是女男平等。出了國難免又要貽笑大方。一般的名字音節(jié)數(shù)目差不多都在三個(gè)之內(nèi),當(dāng)然音節(jié)越多的,字母也越多,喜歡偷懶的人,可不要虐待自己。很多人習(xí)慣用取一個(gè)與自己中文姓名發(fā)音類似的洋名,你可以在前綴的地方選一個(gè)與自己中文姓名發(fā)音接近的字母。外國人的姓名有時(shí)候可以看出來是哪個(gè)民族的

52、名作為教名。2. 采用祖先的籍貫,山川河流,鳥獸魚蟲,花卉樹木等的名稱作為教名。3. 教名的不同異體。4. 采用(小名)昵稱。5. 用構(gòu)詞技術(shù)制造新的教名,如倒序,合并。6. 將母親的娘家姓氏作為中間名。英語民族常用的男子名有:James, John, David, Daniel, Michael, 常見的女子名為:Jane, Mary, Elizabeth, Ann, Sarah, Catherine。昵稱昵稱包括愛稱、略稱和小名,是英語民族親朋好友間常來表示親切的稱呼,是在教名的基礎(chǔ)上派生出來的。通常有如下情況:1. 保留首音節(jié)。如 Donald => Don, Timothy =&

53、gt; Tim. 如果本名以元音開頭,則可派生出以N打頭的昵稱,如:Edward => Ned.2. +ie 或 -y 如:Don => Donnie, Tim => Timmy.3. 采用尾音節(jié),如:Anthony => Tony, Beuben => Ben. 4. 由一個(gè)教名派生出兩個(gè)昵稱,如:Andrew => Andy & Drew. 5. 不規(guī)則派生法,如:William 的一個(gè)昵稱是 Bill. 姓氏英國人在很長的一段時(shí)間里只有名而沒有姓。直到16世紀(jì)姓氏的使用才廣泛流行開來。英語姓氏的詞源主要有:1. 直接借用教名,如 Clinton
