2、and violence hidden underneath the narrowand dirty streets in London.Thehero ofthisnovel was OliverTwist,an orphan,who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime.He sufferedenormous pain,suchashunger,thirst,beatingand abuse. Whilereadingthe tragicexperiencesof the little Oliver, I was shocked

3、 by his sufferings.I feltforthe poorboy,butatthesame time Idetestedthe evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, aswaswritteninallthebeststories,thegoodnesseventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happylifeintheend. One of the plotsthatattractedme mostis that after the theft, little Oliver

4、was allowed torecover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose andbegan a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rosereadtohim, and he worked hardathislessons.He feltas ifhe had leftbehindforeverthe worldofcrimeandhardship and poverty.How can such a little boy who had already sufferedoppressiveaf

Thereasonis thenatureofgoodness.IthinkitisthemostimportantinformationimpliedinthenovelbyDickens-he believed that goodness could conquer everydifficulty.AlthoughIdon tthinkgoodness isomnipotent,yetIdobelievethatthosewhoarekind-heartedlivemorehappilythanthosewhoare

6、evil-minded.For me, the nature of goodness is one of the mostnecessarycharacterfora person.Goodness is tohumanswhat water is to fish. He who is without goodness isan utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as thefamous sayinggoes, The fragrancealwaysstaysinthehand that gives the rose , he who is

7、with goodnessundoubtedlyisahappyand usefulperson.Peoplereceivinghishelpare gratefultohim and he alsogetsgratifiedfrom what he has done,and thus he can do goodto both the people he has helped and himself.Tomy disappointment,nowadays some peopleseem todoubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. 8、heylook down on people s honesty and kindness, thinkingit foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result,they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble andseldom offer to help others. On the other hand, theyattachimportancetomoney andbenefit.Intheiropinion, money is the only real object while

9、emotionsand morality are nihility. If they cannot get profitfrom showing their kindness , they draw back whenothers are faced with trouble and even hit a man whenhe is down.
