But throughout the whole play , we have no idea of anything but fruitless waiting. Nothing happens, nobody comes, no

Therefore, Godot *s identity become more and more complicated ,confusing, and full of possibilities, which never the draw a exact conclusion. Is Godot a good man

10、or a bad man ? Who is the person the two trampers are waiting for on earth ? The central figure Godot doesn*t appear form the beginning to the end of the play . Therefore ,the meaning of Godot is uncertain . Even the characters* names are not sure. For example, the main character ,Vladimir is called

11、 Vladimir Mr. Albert* and Didi and Estella steel is called the nEstragonn and nGogon. The feeling of the separate time throughout the work, the peoples memories becomes not complete in the drama. Two leading role always be trapped in between hope and disappointment, Godot is a fantasy and it is unre

12、al colorful purpose,but this image still strongly motive they waiting for Godot H. and in the play ,there is a little boy - the illusory life image. These image overlap and reflect the past and present of fracture ,which is an inescapable reality.Nothing happens ,nobody comes, nobody goes ,ifs awful

13、 !” That sentence said by one of the main characters in the play,somehow which sums up the whole plot of this short tragicomedy in two acts .The reason they wait for Godot is unknown.In the real live,every thing always happened with our own reason.whereas Vladimir and Estragon just kept on waiting G

14、odot without any reason.The weirder things are that they even do not know when Godot will come up and that they are not sure which exact tree they soul stand by in order to meet Godot.,Secondly,Vladimir and Estragons reasonless behaviour.broadly speaking ,this script is filled up with inexplicable b

15、ehaviors.For instance,feeling something exotic inside of his boot,Estragon tried to remove his boot from his foot .however,Estragon can not find anything inside after he managed to take it off and then he became unexpected depressed.Another example is that Vladimir abruptly peering out his bleak sur

16、roundings while he just talked with Estragon.Some people hold the view that Godot is obviously supposed to be God (though Beckett relentless fought against others finding meaning in the work) and the play presumably demonstrates the futility of human existence: waiting around for the God who never s

17、hows. Of course, this message is nothing new. In fact, it is central to the story of Christ. When he was being crucified, Jesus wailed: nOh Lord, why hast thou forsaken me?n It is in this moment that God/Christ came to understand mans despair and Christ then admonished: Forgive them Lord, they know

18、not what they do.In addition ,The appearance of Pozzo and his slave Lucky in the script.they came to my horizon in the middle of the script and the end of the it.At first ,Lucky have been shown himself as Pozzos slave by his arduous job.But,surprisingly,Lucky do not leave his master even thought his

19、 master Pozzo became a blind (the reason is unknown) in the end of the script.having suffer such a lot,how can Lucy would not leave and regain hie freedom.Who is the boy indeed?The boy came up in the script twice in both of his luggages . He only left us a lines of words.and that is Godot would not

20、come that evening but surely tomorrow we do not know what exact role that boy play in.what we know literally is that Vladimir and Estragon have to wait another tomorrow. And the boys overtone is there will be countless tomorrow in their lives before they die. ,and they never could wait so long. Pozz

21、o and his servant are lucky, in a way ,who characters that pass by while our protagonists are waiting for Godot and another bizarre touch to an already surreal story, in which nothing seems to happen and discussions between the characters do not make much sense . Nerveless, maybe that is exactly the

22、 point that the author wanted to make. He is one of the most accomplished exponents of the ntheatre of the absurd, which wants to highlight the lack of purpose and meaning in an universe without Godot.Human beings* life is based on endless wait, which is always full of desperation, incertainty, and

23、repetition. Meanwhile we can just see a slight light of hope which is hard to reach . General speaking ,Vladimir and Estragon are to take their subjective existences seriously and with intrinsic value . A individual must create value by affirming it and living it . Not by simple talking about it or

24、experientialism means that existence precedes essence. Therefore ,your essence is your creation. Thinking the meaning of Godot ,so do not waiting for Godot ,because they have already met with Godot. But the truth is not. Life is filled with wait ,but we must to o ,each of us is the Godot of ourselve

There is great freedom there ,however,it also great responsibility and with that responsibility,there can be anxiety because the choices ou make manifest that essence, or meaning in life.Godot is the symbolism of hope and belief .Vladimir and Estragon can not be sure everything around, not sure h

It also addresses the other scattered locations ,such as ,naditchn,it just for Estella sleep, Vladimir mentioned nmaconcount

Beckett was heavily influenced on being and timenby Martin Heidegger ,and then he held the view that the real time no past, no present and no future. This view is embodied in the waiting for Godot” ,and it has cause

31、d the uncertainty of the concept of time. The first act of the stage time is Evening，and in the second stage, the time is Next day, Same time”. Beckett in drama did not say the happen of the specific s and date. Evening“ itself is a concept of uncertainty, a symbol of the beginning of one day and at

32、 the same time , it also symbolizes the end of the day. In the script, yesterday and ntoday they had lost the exact meaning, the definition of the two time have also been vague.Vladimir and Estragon, meet near a tree. They converse on various topics and reveal that they are waiting there for a man n

33、amed Godot. While they wait, two other men enter. Pozzo is on his way to the market to sell his slave, Lucky. He pauses for a while to converse with Vladimir and Estragon. Lucky entertains them by dancing and thinking, and Pozzo and Lucky leave. After Pozzo and Lucky leave, a boy enters and tells Vl

34、adimir that he is a messenger from Godot. He tells Vladimir that Godot will not be coming tonight, but that he will surely come tomorrow. Vladimir asks him some questions about Godot and the boy departs. After his departure, Vladimir and Estragon decide to leave, but they do not move as the curtain

35、falls . The next night, Vladimir and Estragon again meet near the tree to wait for Godot. Lucky and Pozzo enter again, but this time Pozzo is blind and Lucky is dumb. Pozzo does not remember meeting the two men the night before. They leave and Vladimir and Estragon continue to wait. Shortly after, t

36、he boy enters and once again tells Vladimir that Godot will not be coming. He insists that he did not speak to Vladimir yesterday. After he leaves, Estragon and Vladimir decide to leave, but again they do not move as the curtain falls, ending the play.Vladimir and Estella come from fuzzy past and in

37、to an uncertain future. They don*t know the exact time, don*t know when Godot will come . Time for them has stalled, it such as a piece of need to fill the blank. What they need is to do some repetitive , boring actions to kill time so that endure empty and suffering. In this drama, time embodied in

38、 the destructive force , it relentlessly to the whole world to the end of destiny. The tree is the image of time. The passage of short time and the change of the leaves proving another reality that beyond natural,which makes time are endowed with double meaning: fleeting and eternal. Beckett feels d

39、eeply bases on artists to human survival situation,and he adopts the absurd form of art with his works showed to the people he knew the world. It is to this kind of artistic pursuit,which make Beckett become a top of the absurd art.the uncertainty of the themeBeckett is firmly opposed to give his wo

He has not given waiting for Godot a logical and closed plot, but put some fragmented plots confusedly together. Accordingly,the theme of waiting for Godot is filled with a variety of possibles

41、, the absence of Godot prompted Vladimir and Estella keeping waiting in fear and panic. They are looking forward to the arrival of Godot,but he never appeared. They are confronted with blank dilemma, living a bitterjonely and bored life depending on all kinds of trivial behavior of repetition, they believe that Godots arrival will bring hope and liberation.
