Outside, wherever she looked the fog lay like a thick, grey cloud. There was no one in sight. Polly set off towards Park

As she walked along thenarrow street, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching, but by the time she reached the corner of the street, the footsteps were gone.Suddenly Polly felt a rough hand brush her cheek, and she heard a manvoice in her ear saying Sorry. 8、sttake my hand, said the man. Comewith me. You llbe allright. He took Polly s hand. Watch out for the step here. In his other hand the man carried a stick. Polly heard it hit the step. I can remember some terrible fogs, but maybe that was before your time.I can t see your face, but you sound young.

9、How old are you? Just twenty, answered PAohl,lyt.wenty! A nice age to be. I wasyoung once. Now we re at the crossroads. Turn left here. I qmuite lost now. Are you sure you know the way? 12、停車站?!澳阋サ牡胤接卸噙h(yuǎn)?”巴士售票員問她?!皣?guó)王街?!辈ɡ蚧卮??!皩?duì)不起,小姐?!蹦腥嘶卮?,“事實(shí)上,霧太濃了以至于巴士 不能行駛那么遠(yuǎn)。坐地鐵列車去綠色花園,那里的天氣也許會(huì)好一點(diǎn), 而且你也許可以在哪兒攔到一輛出租車?!币粋€(gè)高大的男人當(dāng)波莉觀察地鐵上的乘客時(shí),她注意到她被一個(gè)穿著黑色外套的 高大男人盯著。最后,列車到達(dá)了綠色花園車站。當(dāng)其他的乘客下車, 她掃視了周圍人的臉,四處都找不到那個(gè)高大男人。腳步聲波莉到了車站出口,那里空無一人。外面的霧像一朵厚厚的灰云。 在勢(shì)力范圍內(nèi)一個(gè)人都沒有。波莉朝著公園街出發(fā)。當(dāng)她沿著街走時(shí), 她聽到了腳步聲,但是等到她到達(dá)街道拐角處,腳步聲不見了。突
