A.Dear

Manager:

Much

to

my

regret,

I

write

this

to

place

a

complaint

against

one

of

your

shop-assistants

about

her

bad

service

in

the

course

of

our

shopping

in

your

shop

yesterday.

Yesterday

about

ten

o'clock

in

the

morning,

my

husband,

a

lady

friend

of

ours

and

I

came

to

your

shop

with

the

intention

to

buy

some

souvenirs.

One

of

your

shop-assistants,

whose

badge

number

was

15

if

I

get

it

right,

was

asked

to

remove

the

dust

from

some

of

the

bronze

statues

in

order

that

our

friend

might

have

a

good

look

at

these

objects

before

making

up

her

mind

to

buy.

Under

such

a

situation,

it

was

the

assistant's

duty

either

to

do

what

she

was

asked

to

or

to

explain

why

she

was

unable

to

comply

with

such

a

request.Instead

of

attending

her

duty

and

acting

in

a

polite

manner,

the

assistant

turned

a

deaf

ear

to

our

request

and

walked

away

murmuring

in

a

sarcastic

manner

that

our

friend

was

foolish

in

asking

for

removal

of

the

dust.

Great

is

our

embarrassment

to

meet

with

such

an

awkward

occasion.

We

wish

you

would

look

into

this

unsatisfactory

state

of

affairs

and

take

steps

to

prevent

a

recurrence

of

offensive

conduct

of

this

kind.

The

lady

in

question

is

from

Japan

and

it

would

be

a

pity

that

she

should

form

an

unfavorable

impression

of

the

service

in

this

city.

Yours

Respectfully,

Jack

B.Dear

Manager:

In

the

fall

of

2001

I

bought

a

jones

typewriter,

Portable

Special

Model,

at

ABC

Store

in

Jonesville.

I

had

used

it

only

a

few

days

when

the

space

bar

broke.

We

took

it

to

a

local

repair

shop,

they

told

us

that

it

was

a

factory

defect

and

suggested

that

we

take

it

back

to

ABC.

ABC

accepted

the

machine

and

sent

the

part

in.

We

waited

three

months,

and

since

your

company

didn't

send

a

replacement,

they

let

us

have

the

space

bar

from

another

typewriter.

Now,

six

months

later,

it

has

broken

again.

We

took

it

back

to

ABC.

They

are

no

longer

carrying

your

typewriter,

but

they

assured

us

that

the

guarantee

is

still

good

and

suggested

that

we

write

you

for

further

inst-ructions

as

to

what

steps

to

take.

The

guarantee

was

registered

in

my

name,

at

the

address

below.

I

will

appreciate

anything

you

can

do

to

help

us

on

this

matter.

Dear

Bob,

I've

just

heard

that

you

are

in

hospital.

I

think

you

are

very

wise

to

find

out

once

for

all

what's

causing

your

trouble,

and

get

it

over.

I

hope

that

by

the

time

this

reaches

you,

you

will

be

feeling

much

better.

I'm

it

won't

long

before

you

yourself

again.

By

the

We

have

without

you.

So

and

get

well.
