1820—1914:classicalgoldstandardsystem(manymajornationalcurrenciesweretiedtogoldatalegallyfixedrate.)actuallyagold-sterlingstandardsystem.TheworldfinancialsystemwasdominatedbyBritishbanks,whichfinancedmuchofworldtradeandchanneledinternationalinvestmenttoUSA,AUS,SouthAfrica,etc.1914—1945:goldexchangestandardsystem(mostcountrieswentbacktotyingtheircurrenciestogoldbutnosinglenationalcurrencycametodominatetheothers)tothesystemcrasheddownintheGreatDepression(大蕭條).Fourwellfunctioninginternationalmonetaryandfinancialsystems:
