cabinintototaldarkness.Shegrabbedathree-foot-longwalkingstickproppedagainstthecabindoorandstartedrunningbackdowntheswitchbackroad.Shecontinuedtorunwithenergyanddeterminationthroughthedarkness.Upthehill,downthehill,upthesecondhill.Suddenlyshestopped,notknowingwhereshewas."Marcy!Judy!"she

shouted.Afaintvoicecriedfromdirectlybelow."I'mhere,Grandma."Anothervoice."Momma!"ItwasJudy.Ruthdroppedtoherknees,thenlayflatonherbellyasshescootedherselfcloserandclosertotheedgeofthecliff.SheheldthewalkingstickovertheedgeandaskedJudyifshecould

seeit."Iseeit,Momma,I'malmostthere."RuthheardgravelrollingaroundwhereJudywasclimbing.Withinminutes,JudygrabbedtheotherendofthestickandRuthpulledher140-pounddaughterupandoverthatcliff.Judycrawled

intohermother'slap,shakingandsweatingandimmediatelypassedout.Ruthheldhercloseandstrokedherwetforehead."Judy,Judy,wakeup.WehavetogethelpforMarcy!"Ruthkepttalkingandrubbingherdaughter'shead.Finally,Judycameto.Ruthpulled
