ThisCodeisdevelopedbyCapitalEngineering&ResearchIncorporationLimited(CERI)in
conjunctionwithotherrelevantorganizationsaccordingtotherequirementsofDocumentJianBiao
[2009]NO.88issuedbyMinistryofHousingandUrban-RuralDevelopment,P.R.China
DevelopmentandRevisionPlanofNationalEngineering
(MOHURD)-"NoticeonPrintingthe
ConstructionStandardsin
2009".
Thepreparationpanelmadeanin-depthstudyandconcludedexperiencesinpipeextrusion
engineeringinChinaduringformulatingtheCode.Asresultsofwidelyconsultingdomestic
extruded-pipeproducers,designinstitutes,rawmaterialsuppliers,end-users,equipment
manufacturers,authoritiesconcerned,professionalassociationsandexpertsinthisfield,andbased
onstudyingandabsorbingexperienceswell-proveninmanyyearsathomeandabroadbytaking
intoaccountthecurrentengineeringpracticeinChina,thisCodewasexaminedandapprovedafter
repeateddiscussionsandconscientiousmodifications.
ThisCodecomprises12chapterswiththemaincontentsincludi專用nggeneralprovisions,terms,

Theprocessofusingtoolstoexpandasmallholealreadyinsidethebillettothesizerequested
forextrusion.

Theprocessinwhichthesolidbilletisfirstputintoapiercingcontainerandupsetwith
upsettingsteminordertomakeitfullyoccupytheinnerspaceofthecontainer.Thenextstepis
tousetoolstopierceathrough-holealongthecenterofthebilletaccordingtoextrusion
requirement.

4.1TheHorizontalExtrusionProcess

Thecastbillet,rolledbilletandforgedbilletwithroundsectionmaybeusedasraw
materialforhorizontalextrusion.
4.1.2
Thechemicalcomposition,microstructureandthelikeofthebilletsshallcomplywiththose
specifiedintherelevantcurrentnationalstandardsrelatedtosteelpipeproducts.
4.1.3
Thereshallbenodefectslikelap,linedefect,crackandshrinkagecavityonthesurfaceand
insideofthebillet.
4.1.4
Theoutlinedimensionsshallmeettherequirementofextrusionprocess.
4.2TheVerticalExtrusionProcess
4.2.1
Thesolidroundbillet,polygonalingotsorhollowbilletmaybeusedasrawmaterialfor
verticalextrusionprocess.
4.2.2
Technicalspecificationsofthebillets,suchaschemicalco專用mposition,shallcomplywith
thosespecifiedintherelevantcurrentnationalstandardsrelatedtosteelpipeproducts.
4.2.3
Hollowbilletsshouldbeusedunderthefollowingcircumstances:

extrudingmetalsthataredifficulttobedeformed;

extrudingthin-wallpipeproducts;
3
extrudingrare-metalpipesthatareveryeasytostickthepiercingrod;

usingtheextrusionpresswhichhasnoindependentpiercingunit.

Thesurfaceorinnerofthebilletsshallbefreeofdefectslikelap,scab,crack,shrinkage
cavity,etc.

Theoutsidediameterofthebilletshallmatchtheinsidediameterofthepiercercontainer.

5ProductionProcess
5.1TheHorizontalExtrusionProcess
5.1.1
Thehorizontalextrusionprocessshallcompriseraw-materialpreparation,extrusion
forming,pipefinishing,heattreatmentandproductinspection.
5.1.2
Raw-materialpreparationshallincludestraightening,peeling,cutting,drilling,end-face
machining,visualinspectionandgrinding.Otherproceduresmaybeaddeddependingonproduct
variety.
5.1.3
Extrusionformingshallcomprisebilletcleaning,reheating,descaling,lubricationfor
expanding,piercingorexpanding,descaling,secondaryreheating,lubricationforextrusion,
extruding,coolingandcollection.Otherproceduresmaybeaddeddependingonproductvariety.
5.1.4
Pipefinishingshallcomprisestraightening,cuttingtolength,pipe-endtreatment,insideand
outsidesurfaceprocessing,weighing,spraymarking,printingandpacking.Otherproceduresmaybe
addeddependingonproductvariety.
5.1.5
Onlinesolutiontreatment,offlinesolutiontreatment,normali專用zing&temperingtreatment,
annealingandthelikemaybeusedforheattreatment.
5.1.6
Productinspectionshallincludenondestructivetest(NDT),insideandoutsidesurface
inspectionandoutlinedimensioninspection.Otherproceduresmaybeaddeddependingonproduct

Hot-transferandhot-chargingtechnologyshouldbeusedforrawmaterialoftheextrusion
process.

Raw-materialpreparationshallincludesurfacecleaningandriser-headcutting.
5.2.4
Extrusionformingshallcomprisereheating,descaling,lubricationforpiercing,upsetting&
piercing,descaling,lubricationforextrusion,extrudingandcooling.Otherproceduresmaybeadded
dependingonproductvariety.
5.2.5
Pipefinish人人文庫ingshallcompriseinside-andoutside-surfaceshotblasting,straightening,end-
facemachining,inside-andoutside-surfaceprocessing,weighing,sprayingmarking,printingand

Eitherhydraulicormechanicalstraighteningmachinemaybeselectedforlong-billet
straighteningprocess.Straighteningunitshallbecombinedwithbilletturningdevice.
6.1.3
Eithermultiple-lengthpeelerorcut-to-lengthpeelercanbeselectedforpeelingprocess,and
thepeelershallmeetrequirementsasfollows.

Machiningsizesshallcoveralldiametersandlengthsofrawmaterials.

Thediametertoleranceandsurfaceroughnessaftermachiningshallconformtoextrusion
requirements.

Thesurfaceaftermachiningshallbefreeofanydefectthatmayaffecttheextrusion
product.
6.1.4
Thebandsawshouldbeselectedforbilletcutting.However,thecircularsawcanbea
choiceaswell.

Specialmachinetoolswhichcanperformdrillingandboreholeshallbeprovidedfordrilling
process.

TheCNClatheshouldbeusedforend-facemachining.
6.1.7
Thecontinuouswashinglineshouldbeselectedforbilletsurfacecleaning;andthebillet
dryingunitshallbeavailableaftercleaning.
6.1.8
Therotary-hearthfurnaceplusinductionfurnaceshouldbeselectedforbilletreheating;and
usinginductionfurnacealonemayalsobeanalternativeforthesame.Thefurnaceequipmentshall
meetthefollowingrequirements.

Therotary-hearthfurnaceshallmeetthetemperaturerequirementofbilletpreheatingfor
extrusionprocess.

Eithermains-frequencyinductionfurnaceorvariable-frequencyinductionfurnacemaybe
selectedforinductiveheating.

Inductionfurnaceshallensurethatthebilletreheatingtemperaturecansatisfythe
expandingandextrusionprocesses.

Thesizes人人文庫ofinductionfurnaceshallconformtoexpandingandextrudingdimension
requirement.
6.1.9
Theverticalexpanderforexpandingprocessshallbeselectedaccordingtothefollowing
requirements.

anadditionalfunctionoftheexpender.

Themaximumexpanding(piercing)capacityshallsatisfytheneedofpipeproduction.

Hydraulicdescalershallbeselectedforbilletsurfacedescaling,andthedescalingpressure
shallnotbelowerthan12MPa.

Thelubricationunitforapplyingglasspowderoninsideandoutsidesurfaceofthebillet
shallbeprovidedpriortoexpandingandextrusionandcomplywiththefollowingrequirementsas
well.

Thelubricationtableshouldbeusedforlubricatingthebilletoutsidesurfacewithglass
powder.

Theautomaticmanipulatorshouldbeusedforaddingglasspowdertolubricatethesurface
ofholeinsidethebilletbeforeexpanding;andthemanualmodemaybeselectedasanoption.

Themanipulatorforaddingglasspowdershouldbeselectedforlubricatingtheinside
surfaceofthebilletbeforeextrusion.
6.1.12
Theselectionofextrusionpressshallmeetthefollowingrequirements.

Theoilshouldbeusedastransmissionmediaforextrusionpress,andthewatermaybe
usedasanalternative.

Themaximumextrusionforceshallmeettheproductextrusionrequirement.

Theinsidediameterofextrusioncontainershallmatchthebilletdiameter.

Theextrusiontoolsshallhaveaquick-changefunction.

Theinnerwallofextrusioncontainershouldbecombinedwithautomaticcleaningdevice.

Thecoolingunitshallbeprovidedformandrelbar.

Preheatingandcoolingdevicesshallbeinstalledforextrusioncontainer.

Preheatingunitshallbeprovidedfortoolsanddies.
6.1.13
Thepipeextrusionpressmayincorporatetheequipmentwhichisabletoextrudeprofiled
barandshapedpipe.
6.1.14Thesafetyguardmustbeinstalledalongdeliveryrollertable,andmustbestrongenoughto
preventmandrelandpipefromrushingoutoftheguardincaseofaccident.
6.1.15
Quenchingtankandcollectionunitshallbeavailableinpipecoolingsection;andthe
coolingbedoronlinesprayingunitmaybeusedasanalternative.
6.1.16
Theroller-hearthfurnaceshouldbeselectedforheattreatmentinextrusionshop;andthe
bogie-hearthfurnaceandchamberfurnacemaybeaddedaswell.
6.1.17
Therollerstraightenershallbeprovidedforstraighteningprocess;andthestraightening
pressmaybeaddedaswell.Thestretcherstraightenershallbeinstalledincaseofproducingprofile
bars.
6.1.18

Thesawingequipmentshallhavecutting-to-lengthfunction.

grindingispreferable.

Thepipeinsidegrindingequipmentshallconformtothefollowingrequirements.

Thegrindingmachineshallbeabletoperformfull-lengthinsidegrinding;andtheinner
surfaceofpipeaftergrindingshallbefreeofanydefectlikescratchanddepression.

Thegrindershallbeequippedwithdedustingunit.Directemissionofdustgeneratedduring
grindingisstrictlyprohibited.

Picklingequipmentshallbeinstalledtoremovescalesfrominsideandoutsidesurfaceof
steelpipes;andtheshotblastingandpicklingequipmentmaybeprovidedsimultaneously.The
equipmentshallconformtotherequirementsasfollows.

Theshotblastingequipmentshallbeequippedtogetherwithdedustingunit.
2Theacid-mistcollectionandtreatmentunitmustbeprovidedforpicklingequipment.
3Thepicklingequipmentmustbecombinedwithcollectionandtreatmentfacilitiesforacid-
containedwastewater.
4Thewaste-acidcollectionsystemmustbeprovidedforpicklingequipment.
6.1.22
Ultrasonicflawdetectorandeddy-currentflawdetectorshallbeinstalledinnon-
destructivetest(NDT)section;andotherNDTequipmentmaybeaddedifnecessary.
6.1.23
Ultrasonicflawdetectorshallhaveafunctionofthicknessgauging.TheNDTequipment
shallbeabletomarkandrecorddefects.
6.2VerticalExtrusionPress
6.2.1
Eithertorchcuttingmachineorsawingmachinemaybeselectedforingotrisercutting.
