Generator-Thegeneratorissimilartoanelectricmotor,butitactsonlytoproduceelectricalpower.Itisusedmostlyonserieshybrids.Batteries-Thebatteriesinahybridcararetheenergystoragedevicefortheelectricmotor.Unlikethegasolineinthefueltank,whichcanonlypowerthegasolineengine,theelectricmotoronahybridcarcanputenergyintothebatteriesaswellasdrawenergyfromthem.Transmission-Thetransmissiononahybridcarperformsthesamebasicfunctionasthetransmissiononaconventionalcar[1].Somehybrids,liketheHondaInsight,haveconventionaltransmissions.Others,liketheToyotaPrius,haveradicallydifferentones,whichwe'lltalkaboutlater.⊿
