eventhenumberofcigaretteshesmokesperday,arestrongly

geneticallyinfluenced.

TheNetherlandsTwinRegisterisavoluntarydatabasethatis

prizedbygeneticistsbecausetheyallowthecomparisonof

identicaltwins(whosharealltheirgenes)withfraternal

twins(whosharehalf).Inthiscase,however,Dr.Vinkdidnot

makeuseofthatfact.Forher,thedatabasewasmerelya

convenientrepositoryofinformation.Insteadofcomparing

identicalandfraternaltwins,sheconcentratedontheadult
