第四單元Adversityandcourage
單元總備
一、教材分析:
本單元的主題是“逆境與勇氣”,主要圍繞英國探險家沙克爾頓及其
“堅忍號''船員的南極內(nèi)容分析探險展開。其經(jīng)歷大致如下:沙克爾頓
帶領(lǐng)的“堅忍號”探險隊于1914年8月從倫敦出發(fā),探限目標(biāo)是橫穿
南極大陸。然而,由于被浮冰圍困,他們不得不棄船居住在浮冰之
±o隨著浮冰不斷碎裂變小,船員們又被迫流落到無人的象島。為
了挽救被圍困的船員,沙克爾頓帶領(lǐng)救援小隊乘救生艇赴南喬治亞
島捕鯨站求助。最終,在他們的不懈努力下,所有人獲救,于1917
年春天返回倫敦。由于沙克爾頓與“堅忍號”船員的南極探險過程復(fù)
雜、情節(jié)曲折,編者將故事連貫地鋪陳在本單元的各個板塊,使板
塊之間環(huán)環(huán)相扣,內(nèi)容細(xì)節(jié)前后呼應(yīng)。本單元的引言來自英國著名
作家塞繆爾?約翰遜,句子的意思是:偉大的作品不是靠力量,而是
靠堅持來完成的。perseverance一詞在此句中被翻譯成“堅持此外,
它還常被翻譯為“毅力”“韌性”“不屈不撓”等含義。
二、文本分析:
活動主題:該板塊的主題是“探討冒險精神"(Explorethespiritof
adventure)o這一板塊展現(xiàn)了探險家沙克爾頓招募船員、少年珀西登
上“堅忍號”、“堅忍號”被困并沉沒、船員登陸象島、沙克爾頓組隊
求援的大致過程,其中每一個事件都伴隨著對相關(guān)人物的考驗,展
現(xiàn)了探險家和船員們不畏艱險、不懼困難的精神。在學(xué)習(xí)這一板反
塊時,學(xué)生一方面要結(jié)合歷史背景理解探險家和船員們所面臨的極
端困境,另一方面要結(jié)合故事細(xì)節(jié)對人物的性格和品質(zhì)進行分析,
從而發(fā)現(xiàn)“成功的失敗”背隱藏的相:領(lǐng)導(dǎo)者危不亂、敢于擔(dān)當(dāng)船員樂
觀積極、團結(jié)奮進,領(lǐng)導(dǎo)者與船員之間互相尊重、彼此信任。文本
分析:閱讀文本分為兩個部分,一部分是背景知識介紹,另一部分是
以“堅忍號”服務(wù)員珀西?布萊克博羅的口吻寫下的三篇日記。從沙克
爾頓帶領(lǐng)“堅忍號''船員于倫敦啟航,直到他們?nèi)炕氐接?,這一
歷程長達兩年多。
語法結(jié)構(gòu):語法結(jié)構(gòu):本單元的核心語法結(jié)構(gòu)是現(xiàn)在完成進行時,這
