MyTeachingPhilosophy
Ihavebeenastudentforabouttwentyyearstillnow,andIhaveonlybeenateacherfortwoyears.Ialwaysthinkofhowtobecomeagoodteacher,however,Ineverbe.MemorybacktothedaywhenIfirststandinfrontoftheclassroomasateacher,Icanhardlyremembermyteachingplan,myteachingprocedure,andevenwhattosaynext.Imadethesituationamess.Afterclass,thestudentscometomyofficeandtalktome.Theyasked:Miss.Yang,whydon'tyousmile?Youshouldlookatourconfusingeyes.Itseemsyouareinyourownworld,wealmostunderstandnothing.Fromthatday,Iunderstandatruththatstudentsarethesubjectivitiesofteaching,nomatterwhatandhowyouareteaching;itshouldbeusefulandrelatedtoyourstudents,andthishasbecomemyteachingphilosophy.
First,studentsasthesubjectivitiesofclassdonotmeanteacherislessimportant.Aqualifiedteacherisanecessaryfactorofasuccessfulclass.Aqualifiedteachershouldhavemanycharacters,suchasheshouldgetgoodpreparationinknowledge,includingcontentknowledge、pedagogiesknowledge、pedagogiescontentknowledgeandsupportknowledge.Besides,heshouldhaveprofessionalqualities,whichmeansheshouldberesourceful、professionallytrained、creativeorsomethingrelated.Moreover,ethicdevotionwhichconsistingofwarm-hearted、responsible、caring、hardworking、enthusiastic、kindandsoon,isnecessaryforateacherduringtheprogressofteaching.Thelastbutnottheleast,personalstyleissuggestedtoshaped.Idon’tthinkitisimpossibleforstudentstolikeateacherwhoisdynamic、humorous、patient、flexible、attentive.Onthecontrary,theyaremorelikelytocommunicatewithateacherlikethat,evenmakefriendswiththeirteachersandshareeverythingwiththeirteachers.Whentalkingtomostmiddleschoolstudentstoday,wecanlearnthatmoststudentsalwaysinterestedinthoseclasseswhichareleadingbytheteacherstheylikeandadmire.SoIstronglybelievethatateachershouldbuildhisprestigeamongthestudents,meanwhiletrytobethestudents’friends.Onlyifthestudentsarewillingtotalktous,canwegettoknowtheindividualdifferenceofeachone,andgivethemwhattheyneed.
Second,teachersshouldmotivatestudents.Teachersaremorethanjustagiverwhoisonlyresponsibleforpassingknowledge.Someonesaidbeforethattheonerealobjectiveofeducationistoleaveamanintheconditionofcontinuallyaskingquestions.Ratherthanmerelygivemystudentswhattheywant,Ishouldmotivatethemtoseekinformationaboutthislanguageandculturewhichinterestthem.Tomotivatemystudents,Ineedtoshowthemmypassiontothisjobalsomyexpectationsofthem.Ialsoneedtoletthemknowthatit’soktobestuckstillinthedifficultgrammarorvocabulariesforamomenteventheyhavetriedsohard,becauselearningisaprocess,andIampatientenoughtoseetheirimprovement.Ateacher’sphilosophytowardslifecanalsomotivatestudents,it’snotrighttotellstudentshowwonderfulthisworldis,it’smoreimportanttoshowthemmyeffortanddeterminationtotheproblems,andtherearealwayslotsofwaysleadtooursuccess.Takemeasanexample,Ihaven’thadanyopportunitiestogotoanEnglish-speakingcountrytopracticemyspeakingskills,butIcancommunicateinEnglish,andIammakingimprovementlittlebylittle.SoIhopemystudentscanfindtheirownwaystolearnthislanguageeventhoughtheyarenotofferedtheenvironmentofaforeigncountry.
Asweallknow,teachingbenefitsstudentsaswellasteachersthemselves.Amongallofthefactorsthataffectteachingactivity,teachersandstudentsarethetwogroupswhichtakethemostpart,soit’simportantforthetwogroupstofindthebalancedwayto
