scienceattheschool'sAldrinSpaceInstitute,spentthousandsofhoursfostering

tomatoeswithresourcessimilartowhatfutureMarsfarmerswouldhave.

Researchersalsobroughtinroughly7,800poundsofMojaveDesertsoil,arelatively

closeapproximationoftheredplanet'srockyregolith(風(fēng)化層).Inordertomaximizethe

project'schancesofsuccess,Heinz'sagricultureexpertschosefourtomatovarieties
