Theproposedresearchisgroundedinthesociallearningtheoryandtheusesandgratificationstheory.Thesociallearningtheorysuggeststhatindividualslearnbyobservingandmodelingthebehaviorofothers.Therefore,thesocialinfluenceofpeersandtherolemodelingofeducatorsandparentsareinstrumentalinshapingstudents’behaviorandattitudestowardssocialmedia.Theusesandgratificationstheorysuggestthatindividualsusemediatofulfilltheirneeds,includingentertainment,socialinteraction,information-seeking,andpersonalidentity.Therefore,understandingthestudents’motivesandneedsforusingsocialmediaiscriticalinidentifyingstrategiestomitigateitsnegativeeffects.

Objectives:

Methodology:

Theproposedresearchstudywillemployamixed-methodsapproach,comprisingbothquantitativeandqualitativedatacollectionandanalysis.ThestudypopulationwillconsistofundergraduateandgraduatestudentsfromselectuniversitiesintheKingdomofSaudiArabia.Thesamplewillbeselectedthroughastratifiedrandomsamplingtechniquetoensurerepresentationfromdifferentfacultiesandacademiclevels.Datawillbecollectedthroughonlinesurveys,focusgroupdiscussions,andinterviews.Thedatawillbeanalyzedusingdescriptivestatisticalanalysis,contentanalysis,andregressionanalysis.
