IntheSeptemberof2000,IenteredUniversityofScienceandTechnologyofChinaandbecameamemberofphysicsdepartmentsincethen.Duringtheperiodofhardtryingtoadaptthenewlife,bothmyknowledgeandmymaturityhaveremarkablygrownandIfinallygotoverallGPA3.5/4.0,andmajorGPA3.8/4.0.MyhardworkingfinallyearnedmetheOutstandingStudentScholarshipin20xx.

Mytwoyears’researchinStructureResearchLaboratoryofUSTChasbroughtmetoamoreextensiveandpracticalfieldofphysics.ServedasanundergraduateresearchassistantinProfessorXianhuiChen’sgroup,Ihavedevotedmostofmytimetotheresearchandmyknowledgeincondensedmatterphysicsanditsrelatedfieldhavegreatlyincreased.Ihaveobtainedallthebasicexperimentalskillsinaveryshorttimeandinordertokeepwiththepaceofthelatestachievementinmyresearchfield,Ihavespentalargeamountoftimeinreadingrelatedjournals,suchasAppl.Phys.Lett.,J.Appl.Phys.,Phys.Rev.B,Phys.Rev.Lett.,J.SolidStateChem.andsoon.

Atthebeginningof20xx,Ibeganmysystematicalworkinexploringthegrowingmethodandtransportpropertyinvestigationsinhole-dopedsinglecrystalBSLCO(Bi2Sr2-xLaxCuO4+y)seriesandelectron-dopedNCCO(Nd2-xCexCuO4-y)series.Myworkwasfocusedonthesinglecrystalpreparationandphysicalpropertymeasurement,especiallythetransportpropertyandmagneticproperties.Aftersomanytimesofattemptofmethod,Isuccessfullygrewagreatdealofsinglecrystalswithhighquality.Moreover,Ihavespentsomanydaysandnightstogetherwithmycolleaguesinlabmeasuringtheresistanceofthesamples.Wefinallyobtainedplentyofmeaningfuldataandbyanalyzingthenormalstateproperty.Later,Ihavesubmittedapapertitled“Field-inducedlog(1/T)divergingresistivitydeviationfromnormalstateinsuperconductingcuprates”toEurophys.Lett.in20xxasthethirdauthor.However,myworkwasnotstoppedandwithfurtherinvestigationinthe2Dweaklocalizationsystemisstillgiven.Meanwhile,Ihavegotseveralpaperssubmittedtotheinternationaljournalsthisyear.

Besides,throughthework,Iobtainedalmostalltheskillsofmanipulationofthecorrespondinginstrumentsfromphysicalpreparationtocharacterization.What’smore,Icanskillfullyusesoftware,(GSASandetc),toanalyzethestructureofthematerialthroughX-raydiffractiondata.Actually,thehappinessIgainedfromthecooperationwithothersandtheapproachofthephysicssciencewasgreater.Ioftenhavediscussionwithothermembersinmygrouponthecurrentencounteredproblemandnewideasforresearch.Duringtheweeklygroupmeeting,weexchangedourviewsonourcurrentresearchprojectandIhavelearnedalotthroughthiscommunication.

Meanwhile,Inevergiveupsearchingformoreextensiveandchallengingfield.Actually,someofmypresentworkisfrommyownidea.Forinstance,Ihavegrownsomesinglecrystalsofhighlyefficientthermoelectricmaterials,suchasBi2Sr2CoO6+y,Ca3Co4O9.......,aimedtofindtherelationshipbetweenthemisfitstructureofCoO2layerandthehighthermoelectricity,magneto-resistanceandmagneto-power.What’smore,Ihavepaidextraattentiontotheupdatetechniqueinsynthesizingthenanowiresandnanoparticles.Igraspedanumberofmethods,suchasmicro-emulsion,hydrothermalmethod,sol-gelandothersoftchemicalwaystosynthesizethenanoscalematerials.Undertheavailablecondition,IamsynthesizingthenanoscalesuperconductingmaterialYBCOandnanowiresofmagneticmaterials,suchasLa0.5Ba0.5MnO3.

DuringmyexploringofthenovelpolycrystallineCo1212andFe1212,Irealizedtheimportanceofcooperation.Becauseofthelimitationofexperimentalcondition,oursamplescannotbecomesuperconducting.Inordertosolvetheproblem,wecooperatedwithInstituteofPhysicsofChinaAcademicSciencetoobtaintheextremepressure.Irealizedthecooperationwithinandwithoutagroupequallyimportant,andsometimesaccomplishmentisgainedunderseveralgroupsofpeople.WealsohavedonesomeworkinYBCOthinfilmtransportproperty,collaboratedwithprofessorC.L.ChenofSuperconductingCenterTexas,U.S.A.

Inaddition,Ihavealsoattendsomeofothersub-group’sresearchproject,suchasusingsol-gelmethodtogrowRu1212,NaCoO2transportpropertyinvestigationandcolossalmagnetoresistancematerialspreparation.What’smore,Ihavealsoattendedthe7thNationalSuperconductivityConferenceandNationalAnnualConferenceofPhysicsin20xx.

Researchinterestandfutureplan

Ihaveaccumulatedalargeamountofknowledgeincondensedmatterphysics.Iamgreatlyinterestedinthelowdimensionsystem,highlycorrelatedelectronsystem.Thepastworkonnanostructurematerialsandthinfilmalsoamazedmetodofurtherresearchintheseareas.Also,Ihavebeenlookingforwardstoreachawiderfieldinphysicalscience.Aftertwoyears’researchexperienceinStructureResearchLab,myexperimentalabilityhasbeengreatlydevelopedandmypotentialforresearchhasalsobeenproved.Ibelievetheappropriateareasformetotakeresearchworkmaybemoreextensive.Myexperiencebothinphysicsandchemistryshoulddowelltomyadvancedstudy.IbelieveIfitforotherrelatedfields,suchasparticlephysics,highenergyphysics,aswellasbiophysics.

澳大利亞留學(xué)如何選課呢?

1：循序漸進(jìn)

一個(gè)學(xué)期選多少門課好?這個(gè)問題咨詢你的師哥、師姐往往就能得到靠譜的答案，不過，想提醒大家，一定要考慮到自己的現(xiàn)實(shí)狀況后再做決定。

比如，剛接觸全英文教學(xué)時(shí)(第一學(xué)期)，我們的溝通能力較弱、寫essay還較為生疏，這時(shí)就不應(yīng)該選過多的課。

合理的做法是在學(xué)校允許的范圍內(nèi)少選1-2門課，這樣，我們不僅能在學(xué)業(yè)上更游刃有余，還可獲得更多的時(shí)間適應(yīng)大學(xué)生活、廣交朋友。

有了這樣一個(gè)良好的開端，我們會(huì)逐漸增強(qiáng)自信，接下來的留學(xué)生活也會(huì)更加順利~

2：關(guān)注成績(jī)構(gòu)成

在看課程大綱時(shí)，同學(xué)們特別關(guān)懷的往往是上課時(shí)間、閱讀書目、學(xué)分?jǐn)?shù)量等等。其實(shí)，還有一點(diǎn)值得我們重視，那就是期末成績(jī)構(gòu)成(Assessment)。

在澳大利亞，不同課程的Assessment差距很大。有些課，平時(shí)成績(jī)+課堂討論+presentation占了期末分?jǐn)?shù)的絕大部分，甚至連finalexam都沒有。

還有一些課相反，finalexam的成績(jī)占了大家期末分?jǐn)?shù)的大頭，幾乎是“一考定輸贏”。給大家的建議是，這兩類課要搭配著選。

也就是說，我們的選課列表中兩類課程的數(shù)量應(yīng)該較為均衡。這樣，我們就能避開出現(xiàn)期末手忙腳亂的情況，學(xué)習(xí)壓力會(huì)被“分?jǐn)偂钡秸麄€(gè)學(xué)期。

要是平時(shí)閑的不行，一到期末N個(gè)考試“接踵而至”，這就只能怪咱當(dāng)初沒好好選課了。

3：關(guān)注你的professor

就算評(píng)分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)再客觀，那分也是人給的，我們上課前得好好了解一下自己的教授。一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單粗暴的（方法）：谷歌TA的名字即可。

我們需要了解的是他的討論領(lǐng)域及（教育）背景。如果他的討論領(lǐng)域和你的愛好全都，那選他的課一般錯(cuò)不了。在他的課堂上，我們往往會(huì)有更高的參加度，期末成績(jī)也會(huì)更好。

當(dāng)然，向師哥師姐打聽他的授課風(fēng)格、給分高低也很重要，這點(diǎn)相信大家都懂的。

4：試聽+輔導(dǎo)會(huì)都別錯(cuò)過

在新生入學(xué)的firstweek，往往學(xué)院會(huì)舉辦一個(gè)選課輔導(dǎo)會(huì)，這個(gè)活動(dòng)建議大家準(zhǔn)時(shí)參加。為大家進(jìn)行選課輔導(dǎo)的都是學(xué)院的大牛博士生，聽了就有收獲。

除了選課輔導(dǎo)會(huì)，課程試聽也要樂觀參加，并且建議大家一堂也不要錯(cuò)過(自己所選的)。這個(gè)試聽，可不僅僅是在聽課。大家會(huì)在一個(gè)完整的教學(xué)周內(nèi)體驗(yàn)新學(xué)期的學(xué)習(xí)、生活節(jié)奏。

在這一周，同學(xué)們會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)比如說“兩個(gè)教學(xué)樓離得太遠(yuǎn)，課間趕不過去”、“午飯時(shí)間根本不夠，下午餓的不行”這類之前根本發(fā)現(xiàn)不了的問題，并及時(shí)退課或重選。所以說，試聽也別缺席哦~

5：尊重作息規(guī)律

對(duì)很多習(xí)慣晚睡晚起的同學(xué)來說，選清晨的課程就不太明智。就算咱們能在7點(diǎn)起床，整個(gè)上午的精神狀態(tài)卻無法保證，這對(duì)于聽講效率非常不利。
