Benitowasagoodandbrightstudent,soAntoniodevelopedaplanforhim.In1821,when

Benitowasfifteen,Antoniodecidedtoenrollhiminaschoolforboys.AntoniotaughtBenitowhat

heneededtopasstheentrancetestfortheschool.

Benitobecameastudentatthecollege.Hisstudiesweredifficult,andhewasteasedbecausehe

wastheonlyIndianstudentthere.Hesucceededinspiteofthesechallenges.Later,asthelaws

changed,BenitowasabletoattendapubliccollegewithotherIndians.

BenitoJuarezcontinuedhiseducationandbecamealawyerand,muchlater,thePresidentof

Mexicofrom1861to1872.HeledtheMexicanpeopletovictoryovertheFrench,whotriedtorule

Mexico,andfoughtfortherightsofIndians.HeisoneofthegreatheroesinMexicanhistory.
