Here is a very brief h_ of the English language. First, between about AD 450 and 1150, English was spoken in England and b_ more on German. Second, between about AD 800 and 1150, Danish and French enriched the English language , especially its v_. Then, at the end of the 16th century, about five to seven million people spoke English. Today, more people speak English as their first, second or a foreign language than ever before.【點 撥】句中的than ever before 是固定短語,意為“比以住任何時候更.,常與比較級連勝,放在句尾做時間狀語。E.g. He looks much stronger than ever before.【觀察思考】 此句中的as 的詞性是_, 意思是_。表此義時as 后面接名詞或代詞,可做方式狀語。E.g. The cat uses that box as a bed.【思考總結(jié)】讀下列例句并總結(jié)as 用作連詞時的用法: I can run as fast as I used to. Do as I told you. As we all know, the earth is round. I saw her as I was walking my dog on the street. As time went by, things seemed to get better and better.
