Unit 3 What were you doing when the UFO arrived?Section A(1a-2c) Period2Teaching and learning Goals:Enable the students to mater the words and theexpressions: UFO, alien, land, kitchen,bathroom, bedroom, barber shop, while, get out of the shower, cut hair, talk onthe phone, take off. The students can use the past progressive tense totalk about the past events according to the situations. Enable the students to understandthe different use of “when” and “while”. At thesame time, cultivate the students interest to explore the outer space.Teaching and learning steps:Step1. PreviewTranslate the phrases and sentences orally:1.在前面_ 2. 在理發(fā)店里_ 3. 睡懶覺_4. 在電話上聊天_ 5. 從浴室里出來_6.航天博物館_ 7.沿著街走_ 8.起飛_9.當UFO到訪的時候你在干什么?_10.當UFO起飛時這個女孩在干什么?_11.當外星人在買紀念品時,那位女孩報了警。_【設計說明】培養(yǎng)學生養(yǎng)成預習習慣,本部分由于短語和生詞不多,所以把短語拿出來作為預習任務,通過檢查預習效果,師生可以做到心中有數(shù),教師可以更有針對性地教,學生可以更有針對性的學。Step2. Leading in and warmingup 1.Show agroup of pictures and ask the class:What is doing?Get the studentsto answer individually correctly.【設計說明】復習現(xiàn)在進行時態(tài),為下一步過渡到過去進行時做準備。2. 1) Show another group of pictures andask: What is Liu Xiang / Yao Ming doing now?Then ask some individuals to answer correctly.2) After making sure that the students answer incorrect ways according to each picture, cancel the pictures. And ask thestudents:What is Liu Xiang doing now?After canceling the picture, ask:What was Liu Xiang doing just now?What is Yao Ming doing now?After canceling the picture, ask:What was Yao Ming doing just now?What is Yang Liping doing now?After canceling the picture, ask:What was Yang Liping doing just now?3) All the students read together in a loudvoice after individuals answering each question.3. Guessing game.Get several individuals to come to thefront and do some actions. After actions stop, the teacher ask like this:What wasWang Lin doing just now?And make the class rush to answer asquickly as possible according to the students actions like this:He was playing basketball just now.4.Get a student to sum up the difference between the present progressive tense and thepast progressive tense in grammar meaning and structure.【設計說明】通過展示學生熟悉的明星們的動作,復習現(xiàn)在進行時,然后隱去圖片再問What was doing just now?,讓學生直觀的感覺過去進行時與現(xiàn)在進行時的區(qū)別和過去進行時的用法,同時口頭上練習過去進行時的表達。然后通過Guessing game,讓學生根據(jù)同學做的做動作快速猜What was he/she doing?,進一步體會過去進行時的實際運用。通過這兩步,學生已經(jīng)能完全領會過去進行時這一新語法知識,并能熟練運用,為下一步課堂內(nèi)容打下了堅實的基礎。然后讓一位學生根據(jù)自己的體會總結現(xiàn)在進行時與過去進行時用法和結構的區(qū)別,讓全體學生對過去進行時的基本結構和用法有個簡單而清晰的理解。Step3.presentationLearn new wordsand phrases1.Watch the pictures one by one on the screen andlearn the new words in this period.【使用方法】:雙擊該圖片可播放powerpoint圖片。Read, spell and memorize the words2. “We all like Sunday, because we are usually relaxed on Sunday. Next lets read a report about UFO thathappened in Xinjiang”2.“Maybe you cant remember what you were doing whenthe UFO arrived. Because you were so young at that time. Now lets look at apicture.
