Knowledge aims:(1) Master new words and phrases: bamboo, endangered, research, keeper, awake, excitement, walk into, fall over, illness, remaining, or so (2) Master new sentences: ., they run over to them with excitement and some of the young pandas even walk into their friends and fall over.Adult pandas spend more than 12 hours a day eating about 10 kilos of bamboo. 2. Ability aims:(1)Train students ability to get the information with the reading strategy.(2)Train students ability to analyze the structure of the passage.3. Emotion aims:(1) Get the students learn to care for animals and protect animals.(2) Get the students to learn to care for the environment and protect the environment .II. Teaching important and difficult points1. To master new words and phrases2. To learn to use the reading strategy to get the proper information .III. Teaching procedures Step1 Warm up1. Play a guessing game. Get the students to say out the names of the animals according to the description words on PPT.(1. elephant Its very large. It likes to play with water.It has two big ears and a long nose.2. Whale Its very huge. /hju:d / It lives in the sea.It is a mammal(哺乳動(dòng)物) like a panda.3.pandaIt likes to climb trees. It comes from China. It only eats bamboo(竹子).2. Free talkDraw a picture of a panda on the blackboard and get the students to say something about pandas according to the given words of 2a(設(shè)計(jì)意圖:利用游戲熱身,激發(fā)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)興趣。并讓學(xué)生運(yùn)用已有知識(shí)對(duì)大熊貓進(jìn)行簡(jiǎn)單描述,為進(jìn)一步學(xué)習(xí)大熊貓的有關(guān)知識(shí)做鋪墊。)Step2 ReadingTask1 ScanningLook at the picture on page 54 and scan the passage , then choose the best title for the passage.A. _ What Is a Panda? B. _ Lets Save the Pandas. C. _ Pandas Are Good Pets.(設(shè)計(jì)意圖:學(xué)習(xí)閱讀策略視讀,讓學(xué)生通過(guò)觀察圖片,運(yùn)用閱讀技巧快速瀏覽文章,從整體上把握文章大意。此時(shí)的答案可以存在爭(zhēng)議,待學(xué)生進(jìn)行完Careful reading 之后,再核對(duì)答案。)Task2 Careful reading1. Read Para.1 and answer (1) What do baby pandas have for breakfast?(2) What do they do when they see the keepers?2. Read Para.2 and answer (1)What do panda keepers do every day?(2) What do many people around the world think of pandas?(設(shè)計(jì)意圖:1.培養(yǎng)學(xué)生帶著問(wèn)題進(jìn)行閱讀并用完整句子回答問(wèn)題的能力。2.運(yùn)用Mind-map 進(jìn)行小結(jié),引導(dǎo)學(xué)生了解大熊貓的重要性。)3. Read Para.3 and answer(1)How many pandas are there in the world?(2)Can pandas have many babies? Why?(3) How much bamboo do adult pandas eat every day?(設(shè)計(jì)意圖:1.通過(guò)閱讀回答問(wèn)題獲取一系列數(shù)據(jù),讓學(xué)生了解大熊貓已經(jīng)瀕臨滅絕的事實(shí)及原因,并適當(dāng)拓展其他原因。2.使用Mind-map進(jìn)行小結(jié),幫助學(xué)生對(duì)本段大意進(jìn)行歸納概括,也為復(fù)述做鋪墊。)4. Read Para.4 and answerWhat do humans do to save the pandas?(設(shè)計(jì)意圖:通過(guò)設(shè)計(jì)Mind-map,幫助學(xué)生梳理人們?cè)谡却笮茇埛矫嫠扇〉男袆?dòng),并引發(fā)學(xué)生思考:為了拯救大熊貓,我們還能做什么?)Task3 Retelling(設(shè)計(jì)意圖:利用Mind-map對(duì)文本進(jìn)行復(fù)述,從整體上把握文章,從而確定文章題目Lets Save the Pandas,同時(shí)也幫助學(xué)生理清文章結(jié)構(gòu),為寫(xiě)作做鋪墊。)Step3 DiscussionGet the students to discuss “Why should we save the endangered animals?”(設(shè)計(jì)意圖:通過(guò)討論讓學(xué)生意識(shí)到保護(hù)、關(guān)愛(ài)動(dòng)物的重要性:Its our duty to protect the animals.
