【翻譯技巧】英語筆譯技法正反譯法由于國家、歷史、地理、社會文化背景和生活習(xí)性的不同，漢英兩種語言在表達(dá)正說和反說時有很大差異，尤其英語在否定意義的表達(dá)上更為復(fù)雜，有時形式否定而實質(zhì)肯定，或形式肯定而實質(zhì)否定。在兩種語言互譯時，原文中正說的句子可能不得不處理成反說，或是用反說表達(dá)更為合適。反之亦然。翻譯中，這種把正說處理成反說、把反說處理成正說的譯法，就稱為正反譯法。 正反譯法是翻譯技巧中的一個重要方法，屬于引申和修辭范圍。 籠統(tǒng)的說，英語句子中含有“never”、“no”、“not”、“un-”、“im-”、“in-”、“ir-”、“-less”等否定詞以及否定前綴或后綴的單詞，以及漢語句子中含有“不”、“沒”、“無”、“未”、“甭”、“別”、“休”、“莫”、“非”、“勿”、“毋”等否定詞的即為反說，不含有這些否定詞的即為正說。 但實際操作時，正說和反說的界限又變得極為模糊，例如“correct”可以翻譯成“正確”（正說），也可以翻譯成“沒有毛病”（反說）。因此，到底譯文要采用正說還是反說，就完全要看譯文語言的慣用表達(dá)和上下文的語氣語態(tài)了。 在正反譯法中，英譯漢正轉(zhuǎn)反（正說反譯法）和漢譯英反轉(zhuǎn)正（反說正譯法）是最為重要的兩種正反譯法。英譯漢正轉(zhuǎn)反 英語中有些否定概念是通過含有否定意義或近似否定意義的詞來表達(dá)的，雖然形式是肯定的，但這類詞大多是某些肯定詞所引申或變化出來的反義詞，或經(jīng)過長期歷史演變而引申出其他否定詞義，即所謂的“含蓄否定詞”或“暗指否定詞”，這類詞在譯成漢語時，需要變成漢語的否定詞組，必要時還需要作詞類轉(zhuǎn)換。 1、名詞 含蓄否定名詞主要有：shortness / shortage（不夠； 不足）、lack（缺乏； 沒有）、absence（不在）、failure（未能； 不成功）、defiance（不顧； 無視）、denial（否認(rèn)； 否定）、exclusion（排除）、freedom（不； 免除）、refusal（不愿； 不允許）、loss（失去）等。 Shortness of time has required the omission of some states. 由于時間不夠，沒能訪問那些國家。 Behave yourself during my absence. 我不在時要規(guī)矩點(diǎn)。 We were perplexed by his failure to answer the letter. 他何以不回信，我們大惑不解。2、動詞或動詞短語 英語中常見的含蓄否定動詞包括：refuse（不愿； 不肯； 無法）、lack（缺乏； 沒有）、defy（不服從； 不遵守； 不讓）、forbid（不許）、stop（不準(zhǔn)； 別）、ignore（不理； 不肯考慮； 無視； 不顧）、hate（不愿意）、miss（沒聽清楚； 沒趕上）等。 He refuses to come in. 他不愿意進(jìn)來。（Chris TAO 于2012年10月22日歸納總結(jié)并存手稿。） Children were to a complete stop. 飛機(jī)停穩(wěn)前，請不要離開座位。 The above facts insist on the following conclusions. 上述事實使人們不能不得出以下結(jié)論。3、 形容詞或形容詞短語 含蓄否定形容詞主要有：absent（不在； 不到； 不出席）、blind（看不到； 不注意）、awkward（不熟練；不靈活）、bad（令人不愉快的； 不舒服的）、dead（無生命的； 無感覺的； 不毛的）、difficult（不容易的）、foreign to（不適合的； 與無關(guān)）、short of（不夠）、poor（不好的； 不幸的； 不足的）、thin（站不住腳； 不夠有力）等。 The child is still awkward with his chopsticks. 那孩子還不太會用筷子。 What you said is foreign to the main issue of our discussion.你所講的與我們討論的主題無關(guān)。 The explanation is pretty thin. 這個解釋站不住腳。 The corrupt police chief turned a blind eye to the 含蓄否定介詞和介詞短語主要有：without（沒有）、against（不符合）、except（不包括）、beyond（無； 無法）、beside（不對； 不符合）、above（不至于）、behind（未能； 尚未； 還沒有）、instead of（沒有； 而不是）、aside from（不包括）、far from（絕不是； 還不； 非但不（甚至）還）、at large（未被捕； 未捉拿歸案）、at a loss（不知所措； 不知如何是好； 完全不明白/不理解）、but for（要不是/沒有就不能/不會/無法）、would ratherthan（寧愿/寧可也不）等。 His answer is beside the mark. 他的回答文不對題。 He is above meanness and deceit. 他不至于做卑鄙和欺騙的事情。 I have fallen behind with my correspondence. 我有一些信件沒有及時答復(fù)。 It was beyond his power to sign such a contract. 他無權(quán)簽訂這種合同。 The speaker was speaking over my head. 演講者講的內(nèi)容太深奧了，我聽不懂。 The escaped criminal is still at stayed awake almost the whole night. 我昨晚幾乎一夜沒睡。 He dived into the water fully clothed and rescued the children. 他衣服都沒脫就跳入水中，把孩子們救了上來。 Slowly he pulled the letter out of the envelope， and unfolded it. 他不慌不忙地從信封里抽出信紙，把它打開。 6、連詞 包括：before（還沒來得及）、unless（如果沒有就）等。 Before I could say “thank you”， the postman had disappeared around the corner. 我還沒來得及說聲“謝謝”，郵遞員已經(jīng)消失在拐角處了。 Unless there is any other business， we can end the meeting. 如果沒有別的事情，我們的會議就到此結(jié)束了。7、習(xí)慣用法和固定搭配 He is anything but a writer. 他決不是一個作家。 The decision has to come. 決定尚未作出。 It is a wise father that knows his own child. Keep off the grass！ 請勿踐踏草坪！ Wet paint！ 油漆未干！Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven. 寧為雞首，不為牛后。 Seeing is believing. 百聞不如一見。 Let sleeping dog lie. 莫惹是生非。 Call a spade a spade. 直言不諱。 英譯漢反轉(zhuǎn)正 英語中明顯使用not、no等否定詞或否定前后綴的反說語句有時卻是含有肯定的含義，在這種情況下，我們在譯成漢語時，可以用肯定形式來表達(dá)。1、 名詞 The machine has two serious disadvantages. 那臺機(jī)器有兩個嚴(yán)重缺陷。 The dishonesty of the city officials was exposed by the newspaper. 市政府官員們的欺詐行為在報紙上披露出來。 He showed a strong dislike for fathers business. 他對他父親的生意表現(xiàn)出強(qiáng)烈的厭惡。 2、 動詞或動詞詞組 The doubt was still unsolved after his repeated explanations. 雖經(jīng)他一再解釋，疑團(tuán)仍然存在。 Scientists have unlocked the secret of the atom. 科學(xué)家已經(jīng)揭開了原子的秘密。 The examination left no doubt that the patient had died of cancer. 調(diào)查結(jié)果清楚表明，病人死于癌癥。 I only wish he was here himself， as I dont doubt he will be here at sunset tomorrow. 我希望他也在這里，我有把握，明天太陽下山的時候，他就要來了。3、 形容詞和形容詞詞組 He gave me an indefinite answer. 他給了我一個含糊的答復(fù)。 It was inconsiderate of him to mention the matter in her hearing. 他實在輕率，竟當(dāng)著她的面談?wù)摯耸隆?4、 介詞和介詞詞組 The problem is not beyond our reach. 這個問題我們能解決。 The whole gun was no longer than eight inches. 整支槍的長度只有8英寸。 5、 副詞 The thought of returning to his native land never deserted him. 歸國的念頭始終縈繞在他的心中。 The sea was， unfortunately， very rough that day. 可惜，那天的海浪很大。6、 習(xí)慣用法和固定搭配 To be or not to be， that is the question. 生存還是毀滅，這是值得考慮的。 There is nothing like mineral water to quench ones thirst. 礦泉水是解渴的最佳飲料。 Violent video games appeared no more likely to cause loss of temper than other forms of play. 嚴(yán)禁吸煙！ No deposit will be refunded unless ticket produced. 憑票退還押金。 Dont lose time in posting this letter. 趕快把這封信寄出去。 英譯漢中特殊否定的處理 1、 雙重否定 (1) 雙重否定譯肯定 There can be no sunshine without shadow. 有陽光就有陰影。 We must never stop taking an optimistic view of life. 我們對生活要永遠(yuǎn)抱樂觀態(tài)度。 Such mistakes couldnt long escape notice. 這類錯誤遲早會被發(fā)覺的。 We cant be too careful in doing this kind of experiments. 我們在做這類實驗時應(yīng)盡可能小心。（我們在做這類實驗時再小心也不為過。） (2) 雙重否定譯雙重否定 There is no story without coincidence. 無巧不成書。2、 部分否定 Not all minerals come from mines. 并非所有礦物都來自礦山。 All that glitters is not gold. （= Not all that glitters is gold.） 閃光的不一定都是金子。 Both of the substances do not dissolve in water. 不是兩種物質(zhì)都溶于水。 3、 否定轉(zhuǎn)移 We dont believe that our mother tongue is inferior to any other languages in the world. 我們相信，祖國的語言并不亞于世界任何其他語言。 We do not live to eat， but eat to live. 我們活著不是為了吃飯，而吃飯是為了活著。 漢譯英反轉(zhuǎn)正 與英譯漢正轉(zhuǎn)反的道理相同，英語的一些否定式有時必須譯成漢語的肯定式，反之，漢語的一些肯定式有時也必須譯成英語的否定式。具體操作時，用英語的含蓄否定詞或暗指否定詞代替漢語原文中的肯定詞，進(jìn)行與英譯漢正轉(zhuǎn)反的逆向操作即可。1、 名詞 這就是墨守成規(guī)，不愿進(jìn)步。This was a refusal to change， to make progress. 他們未能做出決定，這使她進(jìn)退無門。 Their failure to come to a decision put her in an impossible position. 他們寧愿安逸于世，免除負(fù)擔(dān)。They prefer family privacy and freedom from responsibility. 2、 動詞 她丈夫不愿意見到她。Her husband hates to see her. 這些爭論解構(gòu)有余，建構(gòu)不足，甚至不顧基本文學(xué)事實。 These controversies focus on deconstruction rather than construction and some even ignore the basic literary facts. 3、 形容詞 這是千真萬確的真理。This is an irrefutable truth. 他因為某種理由而沒有出席會議。He was absent from the meeting for one reason or another.4、 介詞和介詞短語 他似乎想不出恰當(dāng)?shù)淖盅蹃黻U明自己的觀點(diǎn)。He seemed to be at a loss for the precise words to elaborate his opinion. 他提前三天到達(dá)是我們沒有想到的。His arrival three days in advance is beyond our expectation. 5、 連詞 還沒到家，她就激動得不得了。She got extremely excited before she reached her home. 6、 習(xí)慣用法和固定搭配 請勿大聲喧嘩。 Keep quiet. 禁止張貼 Posters Forbidden 毋庸置疑，中國的航空航天工業(yè)在過去的四十年中已取得了輝煌的成就。It is beyond doubt that China has made brilliant achievements in aviation and space industry in the last
