In this period, students should get the first impression of natural disasters, especially earthquakes. Because students have learnt a little

2、about earthquakes in their geography lessons, I will let they talk about them, including the phenomena before an earthquake and what people should when it happens. This period will get students to learn about the “Brave City of China”, that is Tangshan.Teaching goals:Get a general idea of earthquake

In fifteen terrible seconds, a large city lay in ruins. The number of people who were killed or injured r

15、eached more than 400,000. Nearly everything was destroyed , including, hospitals factories, building, railway dams tracks, etc. Water, food and electricity_were hard to get. People wondered how long the disaster would last. Not all hope was lost.The army sent 150.000 soldiers to Tangshan to help the
