7、ity. moved into the dormitory -Jenny has moved into the dormitory. cleaned up her room called her parents talked to her advisor (顧問,導師) registered attended classes YET 和 ALREADY 這兩個詞都表示 “已經(jīng)”, 不過不同的是 yet 用在問句或否定句里, 而 already 用 在肯定句里. There are thousands of colleges and universities in the United States. Nearly half of the high school graduate
10、s in America go on to college. Most, like Bob and Jenny, go to large universities. These are state universities. Some of these universities have 40,000 or more students. There are also many small universities with only a few hundred students. Large universities have many buildings, each building for
11、 a particular subject. 總的來說呢,College一般只專注于本科生的教育, 提供學士學位這樣的本科生學位,所以通常College是比 University要小的。還有就是,有些College是掛靠在一個 更大的University下的,比如說Harvard College就掛靠 在 Harvard University下呀。 而University呢,一般是本科生學位、研究生學位都 提供的,像那些法學院、醫(yī)學院一樣,University同樣有 碩士學位和博士學位。有些University,比如說密歇根大 學(University of Michigan),就既有本科生學
12、位,也有 研究生學位,所以如果你去密歇根大學的話,理論上來說, 你可以先念一個政治的學士學位,再念一個法學學位,如 果真有人做到的話,那真是值得膜拜的 學士學位:bachelors degree 碩士學位:masters degree 博士學位:doctors degree The buildings are in a large area. This area is the university campus. Students often must go from one class in one building to the next class in another building
13、 across campus. They may have only a few minutes between classes to go from one building to another. When students begin the university, they must take classes in many subjects. These are the required courses. English and math are usually required courses and often a history and a science course are
14、 required too. Bob and Jenny will study mostly required courses during their first year. Later, they will specialize(專門化,專業(yè)化) and take courses in one subject. 1.Are all American universities the same size? No, they are not the same size.
