S: Its a telephone. T: Is it useful? S: Ok, the telephone and the computer are useful inventions, today we
5、 are going to learn about other important inventions in history. Then show the title of Unit9. Pay attention to the word: invent/invention /invented.Step3 Teaching1. Show the picture of the four great ancient inventions: compass gun powder moveable type printing and paper and talk about them.2. Show
6、 some things they are familiar like car 、 T v set、 telephone 、computer、 calculator 、light bulbs, and teach the new words calculator and light bulbs.3. Talk about the conversations: A: What was the car invented? Do you know?B: I think it was invented in 1885.A: Do you know who was it invented by?B: M

Show the pictures and some years and ask answer with students: “Can you guess in what order you think they were invented?” then show the example on the blackboard I think the calculator was invented before the computer” I think the calculator was invented after
8、 the computer”Pay attention to the before and after .may ask several students to make sentences like that and act out. Step 5 Consolidation 1. Open the books and complete 1a.2. Games: in order to master years, give some years, the teacher say the English ,the students say Chinese ,and change Step6 L
9、istening 1b1. The first time, the students only listen.2. Listen again; match the inventions with the date.3. Check the answers.Step7 Pair work1c1. Show the pictures of each things with the years and the inventors make some conversations and practice understanding the target language in spoken conve
