1、 THE LAST LEAT（O Henry） 劇本初稿一：時(shí)間： November（主要時(shí)間）二：氣候：cold，rainstorm 三：地點(diǎn)： In a little district west of Washington Square四：角色：Johnsy Sue Old Behrman Doctor Nurse Janitor（門衛(wèi)） lucy(鄰居甲) Linda（鄰居乙）五：其他：旁白 控制人員第一幕：起。（布景：舞臺(tái)前部偏右置折疊床一張，上附暖色床單并被，床頭向觀眾席，尾向內(nèi)，指向臺(tái)左后部，床腳置椅一張，椅左一桌，桌上一鏡。臺(tái)中床中軸線上置一窗臺(tái)，大小適度，窗向臺(tái)后開放，上掛便于

2、更換之暖色窗簾，下置一畫板并筆。臺(tái)左后置一白版，上附紙繪斑駁，灰暗墻面及一條枯萎，衰敗，腐朽之常青藤，于繪藤處開孔，取葉十二，細(xì)線系之，取紙編號于末端，穿孔而懸，設(shè)一人于白版后，配合Johnsy扮演者口中數(shù)字，依次剪斷第12-5條細(xì)線，另于風(fēng)雨之夜Old Behrman畫葉之前依次掉落余下四葉。）幕起，只一束光打在旁白處，若燈光不可控則閉燈，旁白持一手電立于臺(tái)左前部朗讀，字幕打于大幕上。旁白：In a little district west of Washington Square, the quaint old Greenwich Style of the buildings attrac

3、ted a lot of young artists. They came prowling, hunting for north windows and eighteenth-century gables and Dutch attics and low rents. Sue and Johnsy are two of them, one from Maine, the other from California. They found their tastes in art and became good friends, then made up their joint studio a

4、t the top of a squatty, three-story brick.But in the cold November, Johnsy fell ill seriously, coughed continually. Sue was very anxious so she sent for a doctor. 旁白畢，滅燈下場。燈亮，Johnsy躺床上，墊高枕頭，Sue立床尾面向觀眾，醫(yī)生穿白衣，持聽診器立床旁，護(hù)士在一旁。護(hù)士：take your temperature，please.Johnsy取出溫度計(jì)，護(hù)士取過觀看，做記錄并傳達(dá)給醫(yī)生。醫(yī)生：Its ok, just so

And that chance is for her to want to live. This way people have of lining-up on the side of the undertaker makes the e

6、ntire pharmacopoeia looks silly. Your little lady has made up her mind that shes not going to get well. Has she anything on her mind?Sue：She-she wanted to paint the Bay of Naples some day. 醫(yī)生：Paint? -bosh! Has she anything on her mind worth about thinking twice-a man for instance?Sue：A man? But whenever my patient begins to count the carriages in her funeral procession I subtract 50 percents from the curative pow

Ive known that for three days. Didnt the doctor tell you?Sue：Oh, I never heard of such nonsense. The doctor told me Just now th

11、at your chances were ten to one! Why thats almost as good a chance as we have in New York when we ride on the streetcars or work past a new building. Try to take some broth now, and let Sudie go back to her drawing, so she can sell the editor man with it, and buy port wine for her sick child, and po

He was past sixty but still a failure in a

17、rt. Forty years he had wielded the brush without getting near enough to touch the hem of his Mistresss robe. He had been always about to paint a masterpiece, but had never yet begun it. He earned a little by serving as a model to those young artists who could not pay the price of a professional. He

18、drank gin to excess, and still talked of his coming masterpiece. For the rest he was a fierce little old man, who scoffed terribly at softness in any one, and who regarded himself as especial mastiff-in-waiting to protect the two young artists in the studio above.幕啟，弱燈。Sue上臺(tái)，作欲敲門狀，發(fā)現(xiàn)門未關(guān)好，即走進(jìn)來。Sue：Mr

I have not heard of such a thing. No I will not pose as a model for your hermit-dunderhead. Why do you allow that silly business to

Ach, that poor little Miss Johnsy.（邊說邊走到窗邊，看著窗外藤葉，控制人員陸續(xù)剪落第四，第三，第二片葉子）Sue：She is very ill and weak, and the fever has left her mind morbid and full of strange fancies. Very well. Mr Behrman, if you do not care to pose for me, you neednt. But I think you are a horrid old-o

22、ld flibbertigibbet.Behrman：You are just like a woman!（大喊）Who said I will not pose? Go on. For half an hour I have been trying to say that I am ready to pose. Gott! This is not any place in which one so good as Miss Johnsy shall lie sick. Some day I will paint a masterpiece, and we shall all go away.

Will she die ?Linda : Who knows!鄰居甲乙退場。幕閉。 第三幕：轉(zhuǎn)。（布景：仍同第一幕一樣，窗戶及窗簾緊閉，Johnsy帶被上，仍作沉睡狀，Sue坐床腳椅上，手架在床上打瞌睡。）幕啟。窗內(nèi)包括舞臺(tái)前部弱光，墻部打強(qiáng)光，漸入風(fēng)雨之音效。Behrman著雨衣執(zhí)調(diào)色板與畫筆，提燈上，在墻上常青藤上畫一片藤葉，莖

24、深綠，葉枯黃。風(fēng)雨聲加大，Behrman畫畢，連聲咳嗽，在下臺(tái)路上倒臺(tái)上，風(fēng)雨聲漸出。光漸變強(qiáng)以示天明，門衛(wèi)自右前部執(zhí)手電上，作巡邏狀，突見倒地之人，跑過去扶起。門衛(wèi)：Oh, its Old Behrman, whatre you doing here?（用肩膀扛在Behrman肋下，從左前部下臺(tái)。）Johnsy緩緩醒來，先望Sue，后望窗簾。護(hù)士：You wake up!How are you feeling now?Johnsy：Pull it up! I want to see!Sue作驚醒狀，不情愿的拉開窗簾。Johnsy發(fā)現(xiàn)最后一片藤葉，很吃驚。Johnsy：It is the la

25、st one, I thought it would surely fall during the night. I heard the wind. It will fall today, and I shall die at the same time.Sue走到床頭，低首靠近枕頭。Sue：Dear, dear! Think of me, if you wont think of yourself. What would I do? （情緒激動(dòng)）幕閉。第四幕：合。（布景：與上一幕大體相同，拉上窗簾，桌上加一鍋一勺兩碗,以及一面小鏡子。床上被子里放一織物并針）旁白：Johnsy did not

And then, with the coming of the night the north wind was again loosed, while the rain still beat against the windows, and pattered down from the low Dutch eaves.風(fēng)雨聲漸出，燈漸強(qiáng)打窗內(nèi)，窗外強(qiáng)光不撤，Sue立桌前，持勺盛湯， Johnsy緩緩醒來.Johnsy：Dear Sue.

28、 Would you please pull the shade up?Sue放下碗，輕輕拉開窗簾，Johnsy呆住了，癡癡地望著那一片葉子，Sue仍到桌前盛湯。Johnsy：Ive been a bad girl, Sudie. Something has made that last leaf stay there to show me how wicked I was. It is a sin to want to die. You may bring me a little broth now, and some milk with a little port in it, and-n
