I was trying to do some revision for an important oral exam in the local library and people kept disturbing me.i. try to do

Keep on !Tell me the truth. Don t keep anything back.I must work hard to earn my keep.You can have it for keeps.2.

4、 The last straw was when I heard someone singing behind me.i.這是個由when引導的表語從句。引導表語從句的詞很多,如 what/ why/where等。e.g. This is where we differ from each other.The thing that I care about is what you can give us.That was why I was angry with you .11. the last straw ( 讓人無法忍受最后倒下或崩潰的) 致命一擊Grandfather s death

5、gives the orphan the last straw.3. I turned around and glared at the person who was singing.I glanced at the book s cover. It was a book of Tennyson s poems.從這兩句話中我們應(yīng)當注意glare at 和 glance at 的用法glare at 表示含有怒氣地看著,glance at 表示掃視。eg: I glared at the men because he ruined my sweet dream.I am used to gla

6、nce at the students every time I step into the classroom.表示看的詞還有stare at . 它表示目不轉(zhuǎn)睛地盯著看(讓人心生不自在); lookat 表示普通地看,強調(diào)動作的發(fā)生。強調(diào)看到什么用see.e.g. Look at the little girl! How lovely she is !It is too dark. I can see nothing .4. It was a tall girl about the same age as me and she had a big smile on her face.=It

7、 was a tall girl as old as me and she had a big smile on her face.倍數(shù)的比較方法:A. 倍數(shù) + as + adj/adv + asJack runs twice as fast as me .He is three times as old as her.B. 倍數(shù) + 形容詞 /副詞的比較級+ thanYou are twice taller than your little brother.He is three times older than her.C. 倍數(shù) + the + N. +ofThis pool is t

8、hree times the length of that one.He is three times the age of her.我們還可以有其他的表示方法,如:His age is three times that of hers.5. She looked like a literary type and seemed very interested in what she was reading.look like 看起來像She looks like a naughty boy.look + 形容詞 / 副詞e.g. He looks angry. What is the matt

9、er?He looks at me angrily because I have broken my promise.當 look 與形容詞搭配時表示“看起來”,是系動詞。常見的還有:sound/ feel/ taste/ smell.6. I still hate thinking of that moment. Let metell you the rest of the story, though.though 可以引導讓步狀語從句:I can see your shortcomings though I admit your good points.當它用在句尾且有逗號將其與其他部分隔

10、開時用作副詞, “可是,然而”I trust you. I will ask him about it, though.I know it is dangerous. I will go, though.7. Because I left the library in such a hurry that I left my most importanttextbook behind. It was only when I got hometow hours later that I realized I had forgotten it and there was nothing I coul

11、d do as the library was closed. i. leave 在這一段話中有不同的用法。leave 離開( +for ) 。其進行時態(tài)常用來表示將來。I will leave for Shanghai tomorrow.leave 使 , 留ii. left my son at home.The student was left to do his homework in the classroom.I left and left the door open.He left his son five dollarsLeave me alone.Don t move him.

12、 Leave him where he is.leave behind 丟棄,丟下 棄,丟下iii. 第二句話是個強調(diào)句型,強調(diào)句子的時間狀語。注意還原此句后由于only 在句首,句子應(yīng)當使用倒裝。8. 13、n we have been best friends.i. get along (with)ii. ever since 自從It is three years ever since you left your hometown.They have been good friends ever since.I hope I can lead a happy life ever after.II. 情態(tài)動詞表猜測Modals for guessing在英語情態(tài)動詞中,常用下列詞表示猜測:can , could , must , may , might ,can t , couldn t, sh

14、ould1. 在肯定句中表示猜測,意思為“想必一定是”常用 must , may , might . 語氣的肯定程度漸弱 Where is Mary She must / may / might be in the library .The story she told me must / may / might be true .(對目前動作或狀態(tài)的猜測)He must / may / might be waiting for us at the gate .(對正在發(fā)生的事情的猜測 )It must / may / might have rained last night . (對過去發(fā)生

15、的事情的猜測)2. 在肯定句中用can / could 表示理論上或邏輯上的可能,或客觀存在的可能。Everyone can make a mistake . 每個人都有可能犯錯誤。What he said in his letter can have hurt her .他信中的話可能傷了她的感情。3. 在肯定句中用should 表示根據(jù)事物內(nèi)在發(fā)展的規(guī)律、事情發(fā)展的必然性得出的結(jié)論。 “應(yīng)該, 理當 ”It is nearly seven o clock . Jack should be here at any time .4. 在否定句和疑問句中用can t / couldn t 表示否

16、定的猜測。例如:The girl is honest. She can t tell lies . 這個女孩很誠實,她不可能說謊。 (對現(xiàn)在發(fā)生的事情的猜測)Can he have left yesterday ? 昨天他離開了嗎?(對過去事情的猜測) Can it be true? 是真的嗎? It can t be true . 不, 不可能是真的。You can t have seen him in the party last night .I know he has gone to America .昨晚你不可能在晚會上見到他因為我知道他去了美國。注意 must / may / mi

17、ght 的否定形式的意思是“可能不”,不能表示否定的猜測。比較:He can t be studying in the classroom now . 他現(xiàn)在不可能在教室里學習。He may not be studying in the classroom now .他現(xiàn)在可能不在教室里學習。我們可以將情態(tài)動詞的猜測用法用表格進行歸納:結(jié)構(gòu),.皿句式時普在動作現(xiàn)在狀態(tài)止在進行的動作過去的動作肯定句can/must/may /might/should +docan/must/may/ might/should +be+fe語can/must/may/ might/should + be doin
