1、Elizabeth Bishop 伊麗莎白畢肖普(1911-1979) Elizabeth Bishop (8 February 1911 6 October 1979) was an American poet and short-story writer. She was the Poet Laureate of the United States from 1949 to 1950, a Pulitzer Prize winner in 1956 and a National Book Award Winner for Poetry in 1970. Elizabeth Bishop H

Elizabeth Bishop Elizabeth Bishop was born in 1911 in Worcester, Massachusetts. When she was very young her father died,

3、 her mother was committed to a mental asylum, and she was sent to live with her grandparents in Nova Scotia. She earned a bachelors degree from Vassar College in 1934. She was independently wealthy, and from 1935 to 1937 she spent time traveling to France, Spain, North Africa, Ireland, and Italy and

4、 then settled in Key West, Florida, for four years. Her poetry is filled with descriptions of her travels and the scenery which surrounded her, as with the Florida poems in her first book of verse, North and South, published in 1946.
