17、ges.He is able to speak two foreign languages.第25頁表示過去經(jīng)過努力終于做成了某事要用be able to,而不能用can。如: I was able to swim to the bank after the boat turned over.can 和be able to 都能夠表示能力.can泛指普通能力,而且只有兩種形式,即:can, couldbe able to 則主要指詳細(xì)做到了某件事能力,其形式主要是靠be 發(fā)生改變,所以形式比can 多能夠說:I can swim. I am able to swim. 不過不能說:All th

18、e people could escape from the big fire in time. 只能說:All the people were able to escape from the fire in time.第26頁can能表猜測(cè),be able to不能。can這種使用方法主要用于疑問句和否定句。Somebody is knocking at the door. Who can it be?It cant be our teacher who is knocking at the door.其必定形式是must be。如:It must be our teacher who is

19、 knocking at the door.第27頁. be able to 后邊接動(dòng)詞不定式表示一個(gè)實(shí)際情況時(shí),其否定形式不是be not able to,而是cannot。如:Were you able to catch the first bus yesterday morning?No, I couldnt.7. 普通說來, be able to 后邊動(dòng)詞不定式?jīng)]有被動(dòng)語態(tài)。如:Im sure he is able to correct his mistakes in grammar.不說: *Im sure his mistakes are able to be corrected by him.第28頁1.Did
