專題能力訓練十七閱讀表達(二)AReadingwithRoverisareadingprogramwherechildrenreadtodogs.InadditiontoReadingwithRover,whichisbasedonWashingtonstate,therearemanysuchreadingprogramsaroundthecountry.Thegoalofalltheseprogramsistoimprovethereadingskillsofchildrenwithreadingproblemsbyhavingchildrenreadtodogs.Whenreadingaloudintheclassroom,manychildrenwithreadingproblemsandpoorreadingskillsfeelfrightened.Theyhavelittleconfidenceinthemselvesandareafraidofbeinglaughedat.Theymayalsofeelthatreadingisdifficult,boringandstressful.However,whenchildrenreadtodogs,readingbecomesafunandnon-stressfulexperienceforboththechildrenandthedogs.Dogsdon’tcriticize,judgeorlaughatthechildren’sreadingability.ReadingwithRoverandotherprogramslikeithavebeenahugesuccess,resultinginimprovedreadingskillsforasignificantnumberofparticipatingchildrenwithreadingproblems.Inadditiontomakinglearningenjoyable,whenchildrenreadtodogs,itincreasestheirsenseofworthandself-confidence.AspartoftheReadingwithRoverprogram,thechildrenreadtodogsthatareregisteredtherapydogs.Thesearedogsthathavebeentrainedandtested.Alongwiththeirowners,thesedogshavebecomeregisteredtherapyteams.ArecentresearchstudywasconductedbytheUniversityofCalifornia,whichconcludedthatwhenchildrenreadtodogs,itcanincreasetheirreadingskillsbythirtypercent.Childrenwhotookpartinthisstudyremarked,“IfeelrelaxedwhenIamreadingtoadogbecauseIamhavingfun.〞“Thedogsdon’tcareifyoureadreallybadlysoyoujustkeepgoing.〞Whenchildrenreadtodogsandimprovetheirreadingskills,itbecomesjustanotherexampleofhowwonderfuldogsareandhowimportanttheyaretooursociety.1.What’stheaimofReadingwithRover?(nomorethan10words)答案:Toimprovethereadingskillsofchildrenwithreadingproblems.2/6
