Symptomsanddiagnosis

MandelsonsaidhewouldworktogetRussiatobackofffromitscurrentplanstobanallEUanimalproductsasofJan.1,whichwouldaffect1.7billion,or$2.2billion,inexportstoRussia.
MoscowhasjustifiedthebanonthegroundsthatBulgariaandRomania,whichwilljointheEuropeanUniononthatday,donothaveadequatefoodsafetymeasures.
ButMandelsonwarnedthatifMoscowrefusedtohackdown,itcouldsouroveralltraderelationswiththeEuropeanUnion,whichisalreadyconcernedaboutfairaccesstoMoscow'senergyresources."Russiaisactinginadisproportionateway,"hesaid.
