diseaserabies.ForfiveyearsPasteurworkedon
isolatingandweakeningtherabiesvirus.OnJuly
6,1885,a9-year-oldboysufferingfrom14bites
byarabiddogwasbroughttohim.Pasteur
treatedtheboywiththevaccineshehad
developedandsavedtheboy'slife.
FollowingPasteur'ssuccesswithrabies,the
PasteurInstitutewasfoundedtosupport
Pasteursscientificwork.Pasteurhimselfheaded
theinstituteuntilhisdeathin1896.Today,the
