-Dryerasemarkersorchalk

-Worksheetsorpracticeproblems

-Exampleproblemsandsolutions

Introduction(5minutes):

1.Greetthestudentsandbrieflyreviewtheconceptofrationalnumbers,emphasizingthattheyarenumbersthatcanbeexpressedasafractionwithanumeratoranddenominator.

2.Askthestudentsiftheyrememberhowtoadd,subtract,anddividerationalnumbers.Establishthatmultiplyingrationalnumbersisthefocusoftoday'slesson.

1.Reviewtherulesformultiplyingpositiveandnegativenumbers:

3.Modelthemultiplicationofrationalnumbersusingexampleproblems:

Example1:-3/4x2/5=(-3x2)/(4x5)=-6/20=-3/10(Emphasizetheimportanceofsimplifyingthefraction)

Example2:8/3x5/4=(8x5)/(3x4)=40/12=10/3(Emphasizetheimportanceofsimplifyingthefraction)

4.Demonstratementalmultiplicationofrationalnumbers:
