medical形容詞,意為“醫(yī)學(xué)的;醫(yī)療的”,其名詞形式為medicine。e.g.:Heisamedicalstudent.purpose名詞,意為“目的;意圖”,thepurposeof...意為“……的目的”,onpurpose故意(地);有意(地)。e.g.:Thepurposeofthemeetingistoelectanewmonitor.6.Theythinkthestonescanpreventillness.他們認為石頭能預(yù)防疾病。(教材P62)
prevent及物動詞,意為“阻止;阻撓”,常構(gòu)成“prevent……fromdoingsth.”結(jié)構(gòu),意為“阻止……做某事”。stop...fromdoingsth.與prevent...fromdoingsth.意思相同,在主動語態(tài)中from可以省略,被動語態(tài)中不能省略。e.g.:Whatstoppedhimfromcominghere?keep...fromdoingsth.意為“阻止做某事”,無論在主動語態(tài)中還是在被動語態(tài)中from都不能省略。
