3.IntrusionDetectionandPreventionSystems(IDPS)
Intrusiondetectionandpreventionsystemsaredesignedtoidentifyandrespondtomaliciousactivitiesorpolicyviolationsonanetwork.Theymonitornetworktrafficinreal-time,lookingforknownpatternsorsignaturesofattacks.ThethreemntypesofIDPSare:
Network-basedIDPS:Thesesystemsanalyzenetworkpacketstodetectmaliciousactivities.Theycanactivelyblockoralertnetworkadministratorswhenanattackisdetected.
Host-basedIDPS:Thesesystemsareinstalledonindividualhostsandmonitortheiractivitiestodetectanysuspiciousbehavior,suchasunauthorizedaccessattemptsorabnormalfilemodifications.
HybridIDPS:Thesesystemscombinebothnetwork-basedandhost-basedIDPSforcomprehensivenetworksecuritymonitoring.
4.VirtualPrivateNetworks(VPNs)
Avirtualprivatenetwork(VPN)allowsuserstosecurelyconnecttoaprivatenetworkoverapublicnetwork,suchastheinternet.Itcreatesasecure,encryptedtunnelbetweentheuser’sdeviceandtheprivatenetwork,ensuringthatdatatransmittedoverthepublicnetworkremnsconfidentialandprotectedfrominterception.
VPNsprovideseveralbenefitsfornetworksecurity:
SecureRemoteAccess:VPNsenableremoteworkerstoaccesstheorganization’sresourcessecurelyfromanylocation,reducingtheriskofunauthorizedaccess.
DataEncryption:VPNsencryptdatatransmittedbetweendevices,preventingunauthorizedeavesdroppingordatainterception.
