(1)signal意為“信號”,常指約定俗成、用于傳達(dá)某些信息的信號,也指燈光、聲音或信號標(biāo)志。

(2)sign意為“記號,標(biāo)記”,用法最廣,可指符號(裝置),也可指情緒、性格的直觀顯示,還可指具體的用于識別或指示的標(biāo)志,如指示牌、卡片等。借喻作“征兆,跡象”講。

although是連詞,意為“雖然,盡管”,引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句,主句里不可用but;若要強(qiáng)調(diào)前后兩部分的對比意義,可在主句前加yet或still。辨析although,though和as

(1)although和though同義,在一般情況下可以互換使用。只是though較普遍,常用于非正式的口語或書面語中,而although則較為正式。另外although語氣比though重。although和though引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句時,常采用省略形式。

(2)though可以獨(dú)立用作副詞,常放在句末,意為“還是;仍然;可是;然而”。
