Summary:

“Hiscourageinbattlemightwithoutexaggerationbecalledlion-like.^^

Hewasverybraveinbattle.”

“Hewashardupformoneyandwasbeingpressedbyhiscreditor.^^

"BeautifulmountainslikeMountTai,LushanMountain,andMountHuang,werevisitedbyonlyafewpeopleinthepast.

Today,betterwages,holidayswithpay,newhotelsonthesemountains,andbettertrainandbusservices,havebroughtthem

withinreachofmanywhoneverthoughtofvisitingthemtenyearsago.”

BeautifulmountainslikeMountTai,oncevisitedbyonlyafewpeople,aretodayaccessibletomany,thanksto

betterwages,paidholidays,newhotelsandbettertransportationservices.^^

“ShebroughthomeseveralChineseandEnglishnovels,afewcopiesofTimeandNewsweekandsometextbooks.She

intendedtoreadallofthemduringthewintervocation.”

比如,可以使用but,then,thus,yet,though,不能使用atthesametime,inthefirstplace,becauseofthese,ontheotherhand

KatelookedatPauldisapprovingly:Youusetoomuchsaltonyourfood,Paul—it'snotgoodfbryou!^^Paulputdownhis

knifeandfi*owned:"Whyonearthnot!Ifyoudidn'thavesaltonyourfooditwouldtasteawful...likeeatingcardboardor

andlatteron,heart-attacks.Italsodisguisesthetasteoffood,therealtasteswhicharemuchmoresubtlethansalt,andwhich

wehavelostthesensitivitytoappreciateanymore.^^

KatesuggestedtoPaulthatheshouldeatlesssalt.ShethoughtthateatingtoomuchsaltwoulddoharmtoPaul'shealthand

thatitcouldreducetherealtastesoffood.ButPauldisagreed.Hesaidthatfoodwithoutsaltwouldbetasteless.
