Materials:

-Flashcardswithpicturesoffamilymembers

-Whiteboardorblackboard

-Worksheets

Procedure:

1.Warm-up(5minutes)

-Greetthestudentsandaskeachonehowtheyaredoing.

-Reviewbasicgreetingsandresponses.Useflashcardsorgesturestohelpstudentsunderstand.

-Modelcorrectpronunciationandintonation.

2.IntroductionandVocabulary(10minutes)

-Showtheflashcardswithpicturesoffamilymembersandelicitthewordsfromthestudents.Writethewordsontheboard.

-Practicepronunciationofthevocabularywordsasaclass.

-Introducethesentencestructuresforintroducingoneself:

a)Mynameis[student'sname].

b)Iam[student'sname].

-Explainthatthesearetwowaystointroduceoneselfandaskstudentstorepeatafteryou.

3.PairWork(15minutes)

-Havestudentsworkinpairsorsmallgroups.

-Eachstudenttakesturnsintroducingthemselvesusingthesentencestructurestaught.

-Encouragestudentstoaskfollow-upquestionstotheirpartners,suchas"Howoldareyou?"or"Doyouhaveanybrothersorsisters?"

4.Whole-classActivity(10minutes)

-Chooseafewstudentstocometothefrontoftheclassandintroducethemselvestotherestoftheclass.

-Encouragetherestoftheclasstolistenandrespondappropriately.

-Providepositivefeedbackonpronunciationandclarityofspeech.

5.WritingPractice(10minutes)

-Distributeworksheetsthathaveasimplefill-in-the-blankactivity.

-Studentsshouldwritetheirnames,ages,andnumberoffamilymembers.

-Monitorstudents'progressandprovideassistanceifneeded.

6.Wrap-up(5minutes)

-Reviewwhatstudentshavelearnedinthelesson.
