manyfarmworkersdidn'tspeakenoughEnglishtotalkwithfarmownersaboutthese

problems.

HuertafirstworkedwiththeCommunityServiceOrganization(CSO)tohelpmake

changes.ShesignedupworkerstovoteandurgedthemtobeactiveintheCSO.Shetalkedto

governorsandlawmakersaboutlawstoguaranteefarmworkers'healthandpay.Later,with

anotheractivist,shecofoundedtheUnitedFarmWorkers(UFW)toteachworkershowto
