fromthehistoryoftheaterandecologytocreaterich,extraordinaryscenesonpaper.Her

exhibitionisinspiredbythegrottoes(石窟)ofluxurynobles,thereflectionofmicroscopiclife,the

mysteriouspatternsofanimals,likecoralandthesecretdrawsofVictoriancabinets.

gottenolderthatnearlyeveryoneistouchedbycancer,andifsbecomemoreimportantformeto

raisemoneyforthiscause,9,Merhige,now17,said.Sinceshestarted,shehasraisedmorethan

$100,000.

Oneofherfavoriteswimswascrossingthe28-mileKaiwiChannelinHawaii.Sheswamit
