3、ns, giving personal opinions.,A: Para.(3-11): The author uses examples to show that the root of a word is the story of its origin. The root of a word refers to the origin of the word. B: Para.(12-15): The author gives examples to clarify that the branches of our language tree are those many groups o

4、f words that have grown out from one original root.,C: Para.(16-19): cite examples to state the leaves of the language tree would be the words themselves and their meanings.,Part3(21): In the last paragraph the authors echoed the introduction through the sentence: “From this time on, as we enter our

13、have of its meaning. When we have a good knowledge of each word and its stories, we come to understanding the word fully and its shades of meaning.,2. If you should be showing contempt towards others for the present, and look at others in a self-important way, your friends might use the word supercilious to label you.,3.
