Although the current web-based learning support system provides a comprehensive support services for the network education it is difficult to meet the needs of specific teaching model. Problem-based learning is the more popular more effective teaching model at the international and the specific advantages of web environment provide more favorable conditions for the conduction of problem-based learning. But the researchers found that if implementing problem-based learning activities under the web environment the current learning support system does not adequately meet the needs of teaching. Therefore researching the support system of problem-based learning under network environment especially the design of the method has an important theoretical and practical value. The paper researchs the design of the system its aim is to give a design method for the system.Using the methods of literature analysis case analysis system science instructional design object-oriented design the paper has carried out from the following four aspects.1 The basic analysis of system design. And analyses the basic concepts of the support system of problem-based learning under network environment summes up the theoretical foundation of the system design and analyses the related system case. On this basis the paper discusses the design goals and principles of system and plans design model of system.2 Instructional design of the system. Under the guidance of thequotstudyquot as the center of instructional design and problem-based instructional design method the paper analizes the goals and principles of the system instructional design designs the instructional design model and specific teaching process.3 Software design of the system. Using the object-oriented software design method the paper analizes the goals and principles of the system software design. Under the guidance of the system design methodology developes web-based learning support systems of quotPlant photosynthesisquot learning modules.After a series of studies paper makes following certain achievements.1 The paper defines the concept of the support system of problem-based learning under network environment determines constructivist learning theory problem-solving theory system scientific theory instructional design theory and software design theory as the theoretical basis.Planning system design model from instructional design and software design.2 The paper obtaines the instructional design model which thinks that the system should be designed in several links such as learning goals analysis learner analysis the creation of the problem situation problem- solving design and evaluation design.3 The paper obtaines the software design model which thinks that the system should be adopted the three-tier system architecture and divided into three major subsystems including the management subsystem the problem subsystem and the problem-solving subsystem.
