(10分)閱讀理解You need some bread and milk. But half an hour later, you leave the supermarket with a trolley(手推車) full of food. What games do supermarkets play to make us spend so much money? The tricks usually start before you walk in. Outside the supermarket entrance, anybody who walks past can smell warm, fresh bread. That makes us hungry and ready to buy lots of food, not just bread. Now youre inside and, of course, a small basket would be fine, but all they have are trolleys. And of course the problem with a trolley is that it looks sad and lonely with just one or two products inside. So we may fill it with something. In fact, supermarket trolleys are actually getting bigger so that we buy more.Of course, many people shop in supermarkets because they think everything is cheaper than in other shops. So supermarkets offer very cheap prices on some things but then have higher prices for other products. One new trick is to put red stickers on products. Customers usually connect red stickers with lower prices so the red stickers is easy to be noticed, even when there is no reduction! Interestingly, this trick appears to work more with men than with women. There is a story behind the position of everything in the supermarket. For example, customers often go only to buy milk. So they put it right at the back, forcing you to go past hundreds of shelves full of other products. The position of products on each shelf is also important. The most expensive products are usually at eye-level so you see these immediately. The exception is anything that children might like. These products are on lower shelves so that kids see them.Apart from what you see and smell in a supermarket, what about what you listen to? In most supermarkets they have soft, slow music. Its so relaxing that you slow down and spend more time (and money) in the store. You also move more slowly when the supermarket is busy. Experts suggest its better to shop when its quieter, on a Monday or a Tuesday for example. And be careful with queues at the checkouts. These are sometimes deliberate(故意), to make you buy something from the checkout shelves while you wait. So, next time you go into your local supermarket, remember these tricks and see if you can come with just the things you went for.(1)Supermarkets dont provide baskets because _. A . supermarkets dont usually have manyB . baskets are too small to hold many productsC . its easy to go shopping with trolleysD . a trolley can hold one or two products inside(2)According to the passage, supermarkets put red stickers on products to _. A . make them look more beautifulB . make them different from cheaper onesC . make people think the stickers are for menD . make people think they could save money(3)According to the passage, toys for children are usually placed _. A . on higher shelvesB . on each shelfC . on lower shelvesD . on the back shelves(4)It can be learned from Paragraph 6 that supermarkets usually _. A . stop people lining up at the checkoutsB . close on Monday morningC . play loud and noisy music insideD . make customers feel relaxed(5)The passage is mainly about _. A . several ways supermarkets use to sell more productsB . some advice when people go shopping on the streetC . several rules that every business should followD . some advertisements that make people buy more13. When you read, you can not only learn some new words, but also learn how to use them. When you read a passage, it gives you a good example for writing. Here are some good reading tips.Firstly, try to read at the right level(水平). Read something that you can understand. If it is too hard for you, it is not interesting.Secondly, try to understand the new words. If there are four or five new words on a page, dont use a dictionary. Instead, try to guess their meanings as you read. Mark (標(biāo)記) them with a pencil. Then look them up in a dictionary when you finish reading, and write them down in your own vocabulary book. Try to remember them.Thirdly, try to read for a short time once a day. Fifteen minutes or half an hour every day is better than two hours every Sunday. For example, you can read before you go to bed, or after you get up or at lunch time.Lastly, read something that interests you. Choose a newspaper, a book or a magazine about a subject that you like. It will be easy enough for you to understand.(1)The underlined word tips in the passage meansin Chinese. A . 建議B . 小費(fèi)C . 末端(2)How many reading tips does the writer give us? A . FiveB . Four.C . The reason is that we are all afraid of making mistakes in front of others. The more important the speech is, the more frightened we will be. But forget it now. Public speaking is easy. Its just a simple talking, Although Im a shy man, Ive been making speeches and talking on radio and television for more than 30 years. Anybody who can talk can speak in public. Here are some of the lessons I have learned:Keep your speech simple. Your audience cant take all of your main ideas, and they can only remember one or two of them, not ten or twenty. So you should prepare one or two of your main ideas very well. But if you cant express what you want to say, then your speech will not be paid attention to. And if you dont have a clear idea of what you want to say, your audience wont, either.Organize your speech well. No matter how long or short your speech is, you have to organize your speechhow you are going to open or begin, what main points you want to make and how youre going to close or end. A strong close is usually very important and critical(關(guān)鍵的): the last thing you say is what your audience will most likely remember. If not, they will be confused.Keep your speech not long. The standard (標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的) length of a speech is usually 12 minutes. Most people cant put their minds in one thing for too long time, which will make them tired and lose their interest. If you pay no attention to your audiences reaction(反應(yīng)),the audience will get bored. Of course, your speech will fail.Following these suggestions above, you can make a good speech in public, and you will be an excellent speaker, I think.Title: How to make a _speechTechniqueReasonsRequirementsKeep it simpleYou should think about your idea well enough_one or two of your main ideas well.If you have a _idea of what you want to say, your audience will have, too.Organize it well. You should get your speech well _Know very well about the_,main points and ending of the speechIf you dont, the _will be confused.Keep it _Your speech should be short enough to attract your audiences attention and _.Make your speech as short as_.If you dont, the audience will feel _.五、 語法填空 (共9題;共36分)16.
